I have the body back on the frame for the final time so it is hard to get a current photo, but here is a picture I shot earlier after I trial fit the front clip, realized the frame horns were too high to mount the bumper brackets and pie cut them just in front of where frame JW kit kicks out. You can see the weld lines just above the M-II rack. After this I cut the sides of the front of the frame horns in a half circle and pushed the top down and the bottom up to get a more finished look on the front. Don't fully enclose the front of the horns because you will need to be able to get inside to bolt up the bumper. I had to angle the frame horns down quite a bit to match up with where the bumper brackets will need to attach. Also, the width, from outside frame rail to outside frame rail is about an inch narrower than the bumper brackets on the 49 bumper so I will have to add a plate or a spacer. You can also see the one inch box tubing support that I made to hold the original radiator support bracket. It is welded to the M-II cross member at the back. I also had to re-bend the two brackets that came off the original frame horns, one on each side, for support of the radiator bracket. Leaving an access hole in the front of the frame horns also allows you to have access to bolt up these brackets. Hope this helps. If you have further questions PM me. DSCF1528.JPG

Thanks for the pic and info... this is really helpful and I appreciate the heads up!

If I hit the same issue with the bumper, I might just do a drop at the end of the horns instead of angling them, but we'll see what I'm facing when I get to that point.

I'm not using the stock radiator as I've got the sbc and I have the intercooler so I had already anticipated fabbing a different support than the one they sent me.

I'll keep you posted... and if by chance you can snap a pic your current front end, again that would be really helpful.... thanks again!

I dropped a big block Buick engine in the sedanette and was able to use the stock radiator bracket which is what my fenders and inner fender panels bolt to making less fabrication necessary. I splurged and bought a Walker radiator which bolted right into the original radiator frame. I see if I can get some quality photos but will have to shoot them from the floor underneath so I am not sure if you will be able to see the finished work.

No real work has happened lately, but had to post some pics of my "not so sexy" wheels as we moved the car back to the shop to get back at it...

I shot these pictures of the frame horns and radiator support a couple of days ago. Not the greatest but will give you an idea of what I had to do. DSCF1700.JPG DSCF1701.JPG DSCF1702.JPG

Thanks for the pics, this helps.

I'm dropped my 9" off at Currie to get it shortened and have their performance axels installed, when I get that back and on, then i will get back to the front end and see what I'm up against.

Thanks again for the heads up and the pics... I'll post pics of how I tackle this.

    Cheers!

I mocked up the bumper yesterday to check fit and where I need to drill holes in the frame horns for the bumper bracket attachment points. I think I will make a couple of backing plates 7 to 8" long out of 1/4" steel strap (2"wide") to slide inside the horns. Drill the two holes in the strap to match the bumper bracket mounting holes and weld nuts to the back of them to avoid the hassle of trying to reach up inside to hold the nuts while I bolt the bumper on.

Another heads up. The distance between the outside of the frame horns on the stock front was an inch and a half greater than on the installed JW kit. The brackets should pull in enough to make up the difference, but it will pull the ends of the bumper in. I will try to shoot some pictures next week.

Well the latest progress took a little longer than anticipated.

Took the rear end into Currie and we discovered that the 9" had previously exploded and had weakened the internal seams and felt it best to scrap the housing for a new one so there would be no bending/flexing.

The guys over there did some great work, new 35 spline axles, rewelded my 4-link & bag brackets and mounted my wildwood setup

well... I wasn't planning on getting this until later in the build, but was offered a great deal on a used Accuair E-Level air management system that I couldn't pass up.

Well, after having to my project on the back burner for the past year as I had to focus on opening our shop and getting it off the ground (https://www.facebook.com/3rdShiftMotorsports/?fref=ts), it's now time to pay attention to the Buick and get some work done on it... just snapped a pic of the low profile oil pan, as this is going to be riding looooooow

Just picked up a column shift, tilt steering column from a local retired guy who refurbishes and rewires them for a hobby. He's done some nice work and at $200 saved me about $500 over buying an Ididit column!

Took advantage of Painless Performance's year end $150 rebate promo and picked up their customized GM 28 Circuit Chassis Harness.

They aren't kidding that this is "painless", gotta love the fact they even label the wires!

Gas tank installed. Will be making some modifications to this and adding a fuel reserve tank and a couple of aeromotive a1000's.

well, we'll see what happens, but I'm hoping for a little more than that @ 30 psi, but for the most part will have it tuned to be running at 10 psi so thinking that should be in the 6-800 range.

Progess has slowed a bit, (busy at work) but just got my engine harness and ecu back from a guy that customizes a stand alone - he did a great job, not sure if you can see the details in the pic, but I highly recommend him, his link on ebay is http://www.ebay.com/itm/252448487636...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
