I know some early 52's had SS Vent wing frames, Not just the little trim on the gl***, but the part that is actually part of the door.. Later ones had die cast and where prone to pitting.. Curious what yours are, if you would post year, make, die cast or SS.. Curious too about any SS on sedans or wagons. Thanks ahead of time.
Seems to be a common denominator with Ford thru the years........what's on your car may not be what's on mine. I can't speak for your vintage, but we've had discusions about exactly that on '57 wing windows. For the most part it seems to be a model-to-model thing, but on some models owners swore they had chrome plated steel, while others say stainless. On a car with an older restoration, it's posible a ss vent window frame got chromed, but probably not to many in that situation. We've seen both ss and chromed, so the answer that makes the most sense is that Ford gave some la***ude to the part manufacturers they used to supply various components. Maybe some manuf. prefered ss, while others were better set up for chroming. and if a run/order for a popular model was split up to different manufacturers to insure a steady flow of parts, it would increase the chances of having components made with different materials on the same model.
Actually in 52 the Korean war was going on and SS was in short supply, so many pars got changed to Die cast and cheap chrome. However chrome was in short supply as well, so many parts were plated with nickle chrome, aka Korean Chrome.. Hard to find a rear bumper that doesn't have the chrome burnt off by the tail pipe
Ford cautioned buyers to use a chrome protectant available from dealer parts departments. Few did, so finding good chrome for '52/3 Fords can be a challenge. The grille on my '53 was swiss cheese so bad I had to trash it. Going grille-less at he moment until I can find a period tube grille.

I have a 53 Victoria and the frames are **** pot metal and severely pitted chrome. I have a 54 Sunliner parts car that has the SS frames but the rest of the frame has rotted away. Hoping I can make 1 good one out of the 2. My grille was also severely pitted so I ground it smooth and painted it.
That's always been my believe, but am looking at a 53 Parts car with them, which gives me question about them
