I'm going to look at a dis***embled 31 Briggs 2 door sedan tomorrow. The seller said there is diamond shapes near the belt line. He also said there was wood in the doors? Only messed with coupes so I need a quick education. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Did Briggs make a 2dr body?? I think the 4dr bodies even had wood subrails... I would stay away from that...
Diamond shapes along the belt line were N.Y. Yellow Cabs. Seen some 'leatherback' Tudors, but Briggs were 4 doors, AFAIK.
I had a Briggs (4 door) loved the car! All wood inners. screws and nails always falling out. If I was going to take a long drive I always hoped for rain and high humidity to make the old car swell and fit better. Takes a lot of work to make a good car!
Briggs only made a four door that im aware of,wood sills, wood in the doors, not a real great unit. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I believe all the Vicky's were built by Briggs, also. Sent from my Nexus 7 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Briggs was a major body supplier, built many of the body styles including coupe. Never seen an A tudor with wood in the doors.
I asked was he sure it was Ford. He said one of the rocker pieces had the Ford emblem on it and he is sure the cowl is Ford. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
All the books I have say that Ford built their own tudor sedans, Briggs did make a two window four door sedan. Was called a two window since it didn't have the windows behind the rear doors.
I will be curious to see what this is but my guess it is a four door the only other possible car is a Victoria or a 400 a and they didn't have wood in the doors.
Based upon what's been posted (diamonds shapes near belt line and Briggs body) sounds like it's not a 31 but a 29 Taxi body.
