Hi, just wondering if anyone had hard topped a 1940 Plymouth coupe? And if so have you any pictures. I am thinking of chopping a 40 plymouth along the lines of a 39/40 mercury ie pillar less with raked rear quarter gl*** wrapped in a stainless frame, and the door/front quater windows the same. All advice appreciated. Thanks.

Trickier than it sounds. Google the 1940 Mopar convertibles and compare the door differences. Best case get a pair of conv doors. You will need to also consider a pivoting or slide in and out side rear window (unless it is fixed).
For that you may be best looking at early hardtops. Starting at 49 is about the earliest.
Perhaps even graft an early hardtop roof rails to your roof. I would start from the A pillar and work back.
Or. . . Maybe just find an early hardtop and graft the whole roof (with cut and shut.). Luckily it's a custom. Lots of thinking before you cut.

Thats the vision i had. Thanks for the link. As CadMad has said there is a lot of work in that roof to get it to this point. I was thinking maybe just cut the raked pillars and weld in the gaps using the same profile cut off the pillar. Cut the Door upright and replace with stainless trim cut to the same arch as the new gl*** to support the top of the doors, Maybe Hardtop is not the correct term more like chopped and pillar less.
