Hey...anyone out ther in HAMB-land running these new Strombergs? They look beautiful, just wondering if it's more than skin deep...'cause they aint cheap... Check 'em out here: http://www.stromberg-97.com/index.htm
I saw them online a few months ago, and actually got a hands on look at Detroit Autorama (Motor City Flatheads had one on their table) REAL smooth linkage, done in stainless I believe. The thought "Swiss watch" came to mind... As far as I've been told, they are not out for sale yet, as the maker is looking for dealers... Motor City told me they'll go for between $300 and $400 apiece Too rich for my blood!!! Flatman
I believe hotrodcompany.com is selling them... as far as I can tell from the site anyways: http://www.thehotrodcompany.com/shopnow/show_dept.asp?dept_id=50&hrc_shopper_id= ....and he's a hamber (there's free shipping if you ask for it) really fast getting stuff out too.
We got 4 for a job but have not run them yet, they are spectacular for a remade part, hopefully they run as good as they look.
Aaron (Savage) at Savage Speed is selling them. I've got a two pack coming, but heard there is a slight delay due to the floats????? I so can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know Ryan is going to do a write up on these, but Man $400 for one!?! More and more being "traditional" means being "rich". Guess I'll stick to swap meets and ebay....or a Holley....
I don't know. How much is a rebuildable Stromberg, all the extra parts that may or may not be worn out, plus a rebuild kit and your time to rebuild it? Three to four-hundred dollars doesn't seem unreasonable for such a limited-market item.
Well my rochester rebuilt for my chevy was $184. Now a Rochester isn't a Stromberg and being new with new tooling to amortize I understand the price. What I was getting at is $800 for a two carb setup is quite a ways from why the stromberg was popluar in the first place. From what I understand they were plentiful which is why speed parts were made for them. Does anyone know what a Holley 94 rebuilt goes for?
Couldn't agree more. With CORES going for $300, and not knowing if they're any good, $400 doesn't sound bad at all.
Last 94 I bought I payed $125 for about five years ago. Went to a yard sale and found a nice 97 for $10 .Some of the things I have got so cheap would make a grown man cry. Whole cars and parts.
