I see that chrome slots are once again available, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/new-astro-howard-style-chrome-slot-wheels.970413/ I wonder how a set would look on my car.
Although it's heavily customized Barris' Villa Riviera had them. Unfortunately the best picture I could find is from the model box.
I'm obviously a bit biased (see the link at the bottom of my post!) but I say they look great. White Riv down below is in the UK, running our wheels. That car is being restored (may actually be finished by now) and we supplied the new wheels for it. (15x10 front and rear as originally built!) The owner even had some triple whitewalls made.
Yeah...that does look good...especially with the knock offs...I think the stance needs to be right though...See above pic
15x10 you say-crazy! I wouldn't have thought they would fit, especially up front. I can have any stance I want, with air ride. I will be purchasing a set once I finish another money sucking project(Corvette).
Yes that Villa Riviera is wild, wheelwells were definitely opened up, and those tires are tall too! Good luck on the vette!
I see, 15x10 on the Villa, not the white '63-'64. I noticed the real car has radiused wheel wells; the model car does not. Funny coincidence, I have recently been real interested in "Googie" architecture. I was studying the "Chemosphere" house. https://www.google.com/search?safe=....img..0.0.0.JZtgbLyIBRs#imgrc=xoHubbm67ax9-M: It was used once in the 60s T.V. series The Outer Limits. The lead character was also driving the Villa Riviera.
Ha cool! Thanks for the info, curious if the new owner knows the car was in that show, I'll tell him. I know it was in some James Darren movie. Just to clarify the white '63 wheels are 15x7 with a 3" back space, with what I recall was 1/2" spacers (owner wanted to keep the 3.25" caps as an option, the Buick hub is larger diameter). It's owned by Dave Mcanulty in the UK, you should compare it to a stock Riv, it has some excellent subtle body mods that are hard to pick up on unless it's right next to a stocker.
For Those Who Think Young. I had to look it up, couldn't remember it. I saw it but don't remember it being a cinematic masterpiece.
