Hi: I purchased the "Swamp Witch", and now am planning on putting disc brakes on the early ford spindles. Does anyone know of a setup to do this with? Or should I try to go with the original drums? Currently all there is is spindles. I would appreciate any info on conversions you may have. Thanks, tom

I bought a kit for them from Speedway Motors, good kit, reasonable price. There are disc brake kits for them all over the place.

As posted there are many disk brake kits available for early Ford spindles, with your choice of Chevy or Ford bolt patterns and parts ( rotors/pads).

I don't know the "swamp witch" but the early juice brakes may work if it has a mild motor, or flathead. Adjusted correctly they will work fine.

Or, you can upgrade from the early Ford juice brakes to the ealr y 50's Ford truck brakes, or modify Buick brakes to work.

Do a search on the HAMB under brakes and you will find tons of stuff, also check out the Tech section as well.

    Good Luck.

Very good. Thank you all for the input. And for C9, extra thanks.

I have found plenty of information, now just to digest it. :)

    Thanks a million.

    All done and sold. :)

  8. 40 Ford drum parts are easy to find, disks don't belong on an open fender car.

I had problems with Speedway kits - they re-tap the brake line threads on the GM metric calipers they use - from metric to fractional - but do not bother to tell you anywhere that they have messed with them and do not supply the correct fittings. So you tear your hair out wondering why the correct metric fitting for the caliper does not work. Plus the threads I had on a couple of sets were well screwed up - tapped by an 800 lb gorilla. Rather than risk messing up the calipers by trying to re-tap the boogered threads, I sent them back.

I recommend Engineered Components Inc. - ECI in Vernon, CT - great kits and they have been doing this stuff forever. My $0.02 of real world experience.
