Then to Half Moon Bay before going back to LA. It was great to see pics like these at Ted Radoumis' service. RIP

 

This willys is the follow on car after the Blown Hearse.

That's the Bean Bandits dragster sitting there next to Dode. Dode Martin has been along time friend to the Bean Bandits and still does some things to help the guys racing today.

 

A/R at Half Moon Bay, no identity, Algon injectors, blown Chrysler, early 60's probably...anyone have an idea on this car....used to be "Special" ??

 

Here is another roadster I can't identify...also remember that Austin-bodied blown Olds powered altered in the background but drawing a blank...Dean Lowe, do you remember this? I think this is Irwindale?

and another no-ID...this looks like Pomona, pre-aluminum mask days, so early '60s?


Cover shot from Hot Rod Magazine on Holly Hedrich - Bob McClure modified roadster. Holly was a real drag racing pioneer, built a dragster in the really early '50s, and worked for Scheiffer and Keith Black. This car was built to beat the Speed Sport Roadster, but it was too heavy and handling was sometimes interesting (I once saw both sides of the car from one side of the strip at San Gabriel. Bob McClure was an old dry lakes guy who used to run a belly tank called "Red Eye," and that tradition continued over to this roadster, as it had a red eye painted on the nose.


Just a normal fuel altered pass.....can't see the side so hard to identify the car...Pure Hell? Fuel tank is up where Pure Hell ran its, and the Pete Ogden suspension are what PH ran....it could also be Fred Cerutti's Quality Automotive altered.


K.S. Pittman and who I assume is Ron Bizio before the blue paint...


And yet another unidentified roadster....anyone? This was the classic hiboy drag roadster that many of us grew up with....
