Found this this morning, thought some folks here might like it: http://www.sherline.com/05gears.htm Later, Jay
That's really slick. I know a couple of guys who make scale steam engines. They are real show pieces, one guy has two of them on his mantle.
WOW! I could`nt imagine tying to machine parts that small! The small block is unbelivable in detail! And I thought the Conley engine was cool!
Sherline had a rep named Augie Hiscano that made some fantastic stuff, unfortunately he died last year. He made flathead screws with thread that were 1/2 mm, that's .020 major diameter, on Sherline equipment. The SBC in the pics is great. Thanks
we have some guys around here that bring those to the good guys shows, and they have hemis and nailheads, and flatheads and they sound beast when they open em' up
Here's another link - even more impressive. Check out the videos section! http://www.nvbackflow.com/engines/
Funny thing, I went to have some brake drums turned at the machine shop here in Napa and there's this little camshaft for a V8 about 7" long sitting on the desk. Apparently that guy from nvbackflow left it for them. Pretty insane engineering feat IMHO.
Met some of those guys and got to see some cool stuff when I was living in the east bay. Blew my mind to see a v8 the size of a football with a blower . Saw some tricked out boats with steam and gas power at GG park on the pond too. Never saw it, but heard about drag races with this scale motors. Very cool.
Those are awesome, the link with the vids was real cool, it sounds just like a full size engine. Id like to stick a mini blown V8 in an RC car just for the cool facto r There's also these engines which are supposed to be alternatives/replace to chemical batteries. It looks so simple to make and you could theoretically add an infinite amount of rotors lined in series too.
