Is there any interest in buying or trading a huge rodding magazine collection?

Funny, you and I seem to have the same thought simultaneously: ebay. I know some people hate it, maybe because they don't understand the auction format. I love ebay, for the crazy obscure stuff you can find that would otherwise be impossible to locate in years of searching. On ebay, a five-second search each week will find that obscure stuff eventually, and you don't have to drive around to fifty swap meets looking for it. I love ebay's format.

Just this morning I was emailing a seller about an obscure equipment part I need. I'd never find it at all in a store, but a guy parting out a similar piece of equipment filled my need, easily and quickly, from halfway across the country. Ebay's best service to the world is in creating a market for truly obscure stuff so that buyers and sellers can find each other easily.

Send them to someone who is asking for them for just the shipping cost if you want to get rid of then, but not junk them.

And who wants to get rid of their old cars?
What ya got and where are you located?

Agree, sorting by year and listing on eBay is the way to move them and make enough so you're not burning money.

USPS Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box will get a year's worth anywhere in the country for $15. If you're willing to take the trouble, Media Mail is even less.

I also have a large collection as well. Always adding to it. But the car projects take priority. It would be difficult to buy a collection for me. I would already have a lot of what`s in it. For some collections, you could buy a car cheaper. I did buy a large collection of the little pages, hundereds. It filled 98% of my gaps. With a lot of doubles and triples.

I am in the same predicament. Large collection some early 1950's from dad, and then my collection starts in 1958-1960's. Some first year for new magazines.

  7. I started giving some to a teenage guy, who loves cars.
We have all seen the threads, re old rodders wondering if youngsters will carry this hobby on.
Well this is one way to keep it going.
It's cool to give em to old folks homes, doctors offices, but they are likely to get thrown out in the trash.
Give em to interested young people. Guys and girls.

The antique/flea market folks cut the adverti*****t pages out and sell the magazine fr $5.00 per page, one page at a time.

I've been collecting all that I can find. A wealth of knowledge and history unlike anything else. I can't believe how few people want them. I'd love to have more.

That's what I do with mine. And it's like dropping bread crumbs on the beach.... one minute they are there, next minute... gone. And they LOVED them.
