Hey all...I posted the old highboy #25 in @woodiemikes thread (post #727) hoping he may know of it...shes an oldie but a goody... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/lakes-pictures-p-r-c.943878/page-25#post-11858125
I don't know much about the car apart from what is in "When The Hot Rods Ran". There's just the one picture, and from the program car 25 is credited to Jack Rose and runs a Cragar. I seem to recall there were some discussions about the car in the past, and it was said that it was the first chopped Model A coupe in California. I would like to think there's some truth in that. As for my copper coupe, I'm lucky enough to get to run it at the Hot Rod Races at Pendine Sands and hold the record in V4F/C, which is vintage 4 flathead closed car.
Going by the thread on the link Stogy posted, according to William Carroll, car 25 belonged to John Henning, which conflicts with the days program, but I'm only trying to play catch-up, Mr Carroll was there and he took the photograph. He also confirms about it being the first chopped A coupe.
