I'm getting my 56 wagon ready to go to the painter.I need some ideas for paint.I want to keep it simple.I was thinking the original black with the india ivory roof and or quarters.I need some pics to look at.Thanks
Black on top (including post) and below trim on bottom ......white in the middle including hood, tops of fenders, doors, quarters. you will need the paint dividers for the middle of the fender well on the front. Simple factory look, but my favorite 56 210 paint scheme,............... or any 56 paint scheme as far as that goes. Like this, only with black instead of light green
Thanks for the pics.I like the 210 two tone.I thought about that or white on the roof and above the side chrome on the rear quarters and use the quarter chrome as the divider.Keep the pics coming.I really need a game plan.
I like the one you just described. I don't have pics, but I've seen thousands of tri-5s and own two...two-toning the '56 can be done either way; the way you described, or the one shown above. My money would be the way you've described with white roof and upper section of quarters above the trim, black for the rest. That would look REALLY good. -Brad
I just picked up 2 door 56 wagon the other day and was goofing with some ideas. I'm thinking a two tone gold & bronze (same as my first car also a 56 wagon). But i did a quick black and white one for you...
I have until May to decide.I thought about black and silver but I've seen it done alot.I'm open for suggestions
What's wrong with the color it is now? That's a nice looking car, and you'll never guess what color my 56' Sedan Delivery is! I say keep it the same color and build it to look like an old Junior Stocker or Modified Production Car. This is my 9th 56' Chevrolet, and they've all been one color except one; that one was a 210 2 dr. wagon that was red and white; 300 H.P. 327, M-21 4-Speed, and 4.11:1 open rear. My Delivery is also a 327; 340 H.P. short block, ported/polished 461X heads, decent springs and Harland Sharp roller rockers, Edelbrock CB4X, 750 D.P. Holley, SECRET flat tappet mechanical cam, 11" clutch, 2.64:1 first gear Borg Warner super T-10 4-Speed/Hurst, 57' Olds with 4.88 or 5.38 posi, Summers axles, skinny Cragars on the front with 7" Cragars on the rear with McCreary Drag Stars and the car is REFRIDGERATOR WHITE. It just would'nt look right any other color. Wish I had a picture to post and a way to do so. Keep your wagon white. BUTCH.
I'd keep it the way it is,but the Radir wheels look to good. The motor is done.355 with a polished edelbrock tunnel ram with 2 450's.283 heads hogged out intake and exhaust with 2.02 valves roller rockers.11:1 pistons..575 solid cam.3" exhaust with glass packs(sounds great).Muncie m22 and a 10 bolt with 4.88's.I'm not going for a show car but the car needs paint.I'm going after that 60's look.
This month's Classic Chevy *I think* mag has a 56 goon in black and white. Sharp as shit...................look for it. I'd send it to ya, but they have a GREAT article on the 50th birthday of the 58 Chevy and that's WAY more important.
