Hey Fella`s,any of you use/have used Withs for parts.I ordered some kustom stuff, which Roy dispatched on the 11th feb.The package hasn`t arrived!I got a reply to my first e-mail to Roy,but haven`t heard squat since.I`ve sent 2 more e-mails,but still no reply.Does anyone know if they are still trading,or am I getting the brush-off?The parts came to $172,and I cant afford to re-order at this time.Damn.Thanks in advance for any help.

From what I know, Wirths is good folks.

I've met the owner a few times back when I was doing airbrushing at car shows. He was a friendly person.

I've ordered from them in the past with no problems.

You are in the UK, perhaps shipping is just taking longer.......????

I recently mailed something to the UK and it took around 3 weeks to get there.

Also, Wirths has been around for a while.....I seriously doubt that you are being screwed......but take that for what it is (one man's opinion).

Thanks Tingler.I dont think I`m being screwed, just Pi**ed off with the lack of communication.I checked Wirths out before ordering and got excellent feedback.Roy replied to my original e-mail real quick, but since then, nothing.I reckoned on 4-6 weeks delivery(after talking to others who have had stuff shipped USPS....)but its been nearly 8 weeks....Maybe I`m being a bit premature(wouldn`t be the first time according to my mrs..lol).

Hey man I ship stuff to the U.K all the time, and let me tell you, they must have a guy swimming over with a backpack on.

A month for a package to arrive is not unreasonable. 2 months it should be there. Thats why always opt for shiping insurance and tracking.

  5. Feb 11 to now = 6 weeks. It'll be there next week.

Lol,If the posty is wearing a lifejacket then I`ll know you was right GR63,and thanks for the maths lesson b29,I gotta get a better abacus!Oh,and I will be opting for tracking etc next time!I feel a bit better about this now.Cheers guys.

  7. Happens a lot, after they got your money, the communication isn't as prompt anymore. The sale has been made, they don't really care anymore. Funny isn't it? It would be interesting if you inquired by email about something else you might need, and see which they reply to, your last Q. about your old order, or the new request?

I thought of doing that,b29,but figuered they wouldn`t reply. Its worth a try though...lol.From what I`ve heard,Roy is a great guy,so can`t understand the lack of response, even if he tells me to be more patient, its better than nothing.Oh well.I`ll keep my fingers crossed.Cheers,Kol

The Wirths are great people. Im suprised you haven't got response to the emails. I doubt Roy is ignoring your emails, something may have come up, ya know? I wouldn't sweat it though. Your dealing with good people.

Just adding to the pile, but Ive known the Wirths personally for a long time. They are really good people. Thier son has been helping them alot the last couple months, but I think hes is moving from Texas right now, so thier a man short at the time. Thier still real good about keeping on top of orders though.

The Wirths are good guys, selling the same Taiwan stuff as Mooneyes, but the Wirths are selling it a LOT cheaper

  15. Have bought a lot of stuff from Roy, unlike him not to communicate. One thing about him that i particularly like is he does not charge your card until the parts are ready to ship. Maybe sending the stull to the UK has put a hickup in things. I don't do a lot of emails with them. You might try and give them a call

Well,if he`s one down on workers, then i aint surprised I got no reply, till today!Roy has sent me a real nice E-mail,apologising for the inconvenience and assuring me that a 2nd shipment will be made. What a guy.Cant get better than that. And I dont think he needs to apologise for the stuff not arriving, cos he did his part of sending them.I will ring him.Seem`s Roy has a fan club over there. He`s fast getting one here too...lol

I just couldn’t lurk any longer and read much more about my Dad with saying a huge THANK YOU!

I’m glad to see Dad and kustomkolin got his situation resolved. Thanks to all the Hambers that chimed in his support…you couldn’t have made him prouder. If you can’t tell…I’m pretty proud of him myself.

He’s been a custom and hot rod guy all his life. He started subscribing to Hot Rod in ’49 and the rest kinda goes on from there...here’s a bit more. My dad’s core reason for running Wirth’s Custom Automotive is that he loves it. Simple as that. He loves the cars and the people…the variety, the dedication and the ingenuity of both. He’s always told me as good as the cars are, it’s the people that make this hobby so great. Dad has always treated a stranger like a friend and a friend like family. Simple stuff.

My first car was ’59 El Camino…. I got his genes honest. My coming home surprise from the Army was while I was gone he cut two coils out all the way around, put on new wheels and tires and had it back from the alignment shop before I got home. Really….could a kid have a better Dad?

All that said…I can’t give all the credit just to my Dad without thinking about my Mom, Joyce. They graduated in ’55 from high school together….but it took them until ’61 to figure out they should date. She’s traveled to 100’s of shows, sat in lines at 2:30 in the morning with him waiting for the vendor gate to open and stood on more hot blacktop than she cares to remember…but she does it all for the same reasons. I lucked out twice!

Ok….I admit this is starting to sound a bit too mushy, but I just felt the compliments deserved it as well as a little background. Thanks again for all the kind responses above. As great as the internet is at bringing us together, it’ll never replace sharing a conversation face-to-face or being able to jump in old car with your friend…or your Dad.

Dad and I both lurk on here often. Ryan’s provided an amazing community here on the HAMB and his drive to continually evolve it is a great asset to hot rodding. It’s exciting! I could say we haven’t been on much as we spend a lot of time keeping Wirth’s goin’ …partly true, but really we both wish we had more time to spend late nights in the garage on our own projects to share on the HAMB….that’s the real soul and purpose for the HAMB in my opinion.

I put an intro here….thanks again!
    -Mike

MAN! What a thrill it is to see a post about Wirth's on here! I live about 15 miles from his small shop and never would have thought he'd be mentioned here! Amazing, simply amazing! oh and yes! Roy is a great guy to speak with and from what guys tell me around the area, a true hot rodder and excellent business man! Way to go Roy and keep up the great service!

Ok fella`s.Here`s the update, and final end to the saga of the "lost" shipment. The original shipment arrived today! The stuff is so cool,I had a chat with the Mrs,and phoned Roy and paid him for the 2nd shipment too,so I can use the same parts on my Konsul, and the Merc. The 2nd shipment will be here probably by this weekend cos I`ve been tracking it!Both Roy and me cant figure why the 1st one took so long, but at least it got here. Thanks for the support you guy`s showed for Roy,and his team, cos it helped put my mind at rest.Having spoken to Roy a couple of times now I gotta agree he is one cool guy and I will definately use him again for parts.I`ll stop brown nosing now....lol.Kol,
