I remember seeing the car here in CT when it was owned by Chris Carrier he drove it to one of the CSRA swap meets held on the Berlin Turnpike. When that car pulled in to the event I was amazed to see it in person. Chris was always buying and selling quality Hot Rods he's gone now but the memory survives
Ron, my dad tells of stories when he was riding shot gun with Chris Carrier while cruising the Berlin Turnpike in the California Coupe. I have to ask, but possibly to one of the CSRA swap meets, or just cruisin' the 'pike on a Fri or Sat night.
ronnieroadster: Your car pretty mutch did as mutch as the P&J coupes did; for me! At Timmy back in '75-'76...yellow , 3/4 ton rear , blown flathead...then Ardun. A great car! Still is!
Dam I almost forgot about some of those details Wow the memory's. The 3/4 ton full floaters on my six spline Halibrand was fun I used a spool in that setup no diff at all still got the parts inmy shed. Making turns with the locked rear was fun put many miles on that combination. The things we did as kids good times for sure. Grown old with the car and its been a blast all the way.
I just found this particular link...just wanted to say what a great video it is. I've long admired both coupes following their builds back in the '70s. Jerry Slover let me sit in both cars when my wife and I were there a couple of years ago. Thanks again.
This is way I prefer "The Kid" But like it like this as well. Will miss talking with Pete, was at his memorial yesterday, everyone was there from the Blair's, P&J's & PC3g days. A memory was relayed by I believe Gary Lorenzini or Ed Justice Jr. That "Pete Built Kool" Who knew that New Years Day 45 yrs ago that "Kool" would be built to change the Hot Rod World as we now know it????
Saw Harms Way post #80 of the California Kid at Autorama. We were at the GM Heritage Center yesterday and saw the two cars in the background of post 80
Here's "The Kid" back in town....with Limefire next to it. I'm glad that it made it over to the GNRS. Buy a shirt and pass it in to the next Hot Rodder. I'm bummed that Pete had to pass on, but it looks like he touched many a Hot Rodders life and I hope that when I go I get even a little bit of this nice of a send off. .
