Got a '35 Ford Slantback Tudor original 64,000 mile no rust vehicle with a modified '49 Merc Flatty, '39 trans, new stock interior, powder coated stock wire wheels. Period Hot Rod. thinking of trading for a 1936 Chevy low cab pickup ? on mileage, looks about same condition in and out, SB 327 chev. with powerglide trans, Chevy S10 rear. Guy wants even trade. What do you think?
Sounds like a good deal. At least you can daily the Chevy if you want to. Sent from my LGLS740 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I'm a pickup guy.......I'd rather have a hotrod pickup than a flathead sedan at this point in my life but the automatic trans [and a P.G. at that] is a turn-off to me.
If I interpit your thread,,You own the 35??? if so,keep it...the 35 will appreciate in value over time..not so with a ragged old ruined pickup
No trade. A 35 Ford is way cooler than a 36 Chev pu. If you ever decide to sell either later that slantback would have a much bigger market than the pu.
thats a dam nice looking sedan you have there, i would ck pickup over real good, in the past the trucks have been a hard sell, but seem to come up in value if its nice, the sedan is more wife and kid friendly. you have to weight it out, trucks are kool if you have a use, but that sedan looks good. tuff call, ck it out before you jump!
No brainer, keep your ford. If you would rather have a truck sell your car and build one that suits you. You will likely be money ahead and have more fun in the process. JMHO
If anyone saw it they could find it and buy it out from under me, Condition very similar, have checked with magnet and checked underneath with bright LED light.
Nope, wouldn't trade and I like pickups. You could buy, sell, trade your Ford twice in the time it would take to do the same with the Chev truck.
What's a "low cab" pickup? A rat rod? How many any 35's have seen lately-- zero. Keep the sedan. If you want it to look different just change the rim/tire combo. Torque thrust D's have skinny & wides. 14's,15's & 16's.. and are traditional...good luck.
Your Ford looks pretty damn nice, w/o seeing the p/u I couldn't even throw my .02 in. Then again, your Ford looks pretty damn nice.
If it were me I would keep what I have ,hard to offer any real advice. No photo's ? and what the heck is a low cab pickup. HRP
Youd have to shove a gun in my mouth to make me go for that trade and even then I'd be feeling in my pocket for a knife. I'd never trade your Ford for that. Your car is absolutely mint!
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is the truck,,it's nice but I still like the sedan better. HRP
36 was a transition year for the Chevy pickup. The first ones looked like the 34-5. Had some wood in the body. I think the doors also but don't remember for sure. Then mid year the low/round cab came out. All metal. Had a FB cab ( flat back) with a 265 and a cast iron glide. Heck of a nice truck. 53-4 Chevy power glide shifter on the column.
Did some research on what the Low Cab refers to. Evidently is 1936 1/2 way through the year Chevy modernized the cab on the PU and designed a new cab, as it was mid year they dubbed it the Low Cab as it was slightly shorter. Low Cab the newer veresion looks like it's been chopped compared to the beginning of the year High Cab. Also eliminated the wood frame that supported the sheet metal and went with a steel cab frame.
Unless there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with your car, I don't see why you would even consider an even trade.
Yep that is a low cab p/u the early 36 had the same high cab as the 35. I had one and wouldn't mind another, but as stated, the interior is cramped and if they used a later vehicle's seats,(mine had Pontiac Grand Am buckets)it's even worse. The pick-up would be more difficult to unload later and you have a nice tudor.Up to you in the end. Listen to your intuition
Paul I am a Chevy / GM guy too, '35 ford project was my first venture into the early Ford realm. I love your '55 Nomad I had a '57 a hundred years ago when I was 16, kept it til 30 and thought I killed it getting $14,000 at the time. I know what there worth now and wish I still had it. No good pics but here's a old one from my album Tony\'s Pics 1683 by TudorTony posted May 20, 2015 at 3:55 PM
