Friend o mine gave me a 427 ford cam. All he knew about it was that it is an off road cam. Cam is marked fomoco XBA THE B is marked backwards . Any ideas as to what it is? solid or hydraulic?
My bet is if it were any good,he would not give it away...and even without the lifters...s**** iron in my book
Its a hydraulic flat tappet cam 270duration 480lift Sent from my LGLS740 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thats what i could find in the old cam shaft guide for fords xba and xbab are the same Sent from my LGLS740 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
for the 63-68 427 only thats what the markings say Sent from my LGLS740 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You are probably right if it was a factory 1968 motor but it is impossible to tell what i found is that it fits a 63-68 427 but not necessarily used in 68 because the solid cams have a different marking Sent from my LGLS740 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
From what I've found: ∀BX is the 428CJ/SCJ and 390 GT hydraulic cam Part #C6OZ-6250-B 270°/290° adv duration. .481/.490" lift The '68 hydraulic 427 used this cam profile with ∀BAB marking.
You can drill out the lifter gallery plug in the 427s and run hydraulic cams in them, Ive done this several times. Ive never heard of a factory off road 427 hydraulic cam but Im no expert
I just copy -pasted it from the site I got the cam info from. There are HTML codes for many symbols. The inverted A is a math logic symbol with the code ∀ These codes don't seem to work on this forum, but they work on others I've tried. Just type it in and the symbol appears in the reply.
It lists one but they would have to have the cam gallery plug drilled out to run it in a 63 427 that its shown for. I guess I dont get it
I know this is an old thread, but... ....This is a 66 390GT Camshaft. It was used in the 68-1/2-70 428CJ, 428SCJ Engines. The X, B and A are "mirror cast"; they're all backwards, but the "B" is the only one you can tell as it is asymmetric.
