I haven't done the drive in before, but have been planning on going tomorrow. I did not pre-register, but they say you can register on-site. Anyone gone through this before? Gates open at 8:00, how early do you think I need to get there? Hoping it's not sold out before I get in.
Ha I asked the exact same thing a few days ago n got no replies. I'm gonna try to get there a little before 7 and hope for the best. Where you coming from?
I'm coming up from Fullerton. I was thinking of leaving here around 7:00, but now I"m thinking of bumping that up 1/2 hour and try to leave by 6:30. If it was just me it'd be no problem to get there whenever, but my wife is coming with me, and like most women she doesn't do mornings very well.
Well, just to clear this up, there was no problem doing the "day of" registration, nothing to worry about. We got there about 7:00, but we could've got there later and it really wouldn't have made much of a difference, all of the parking is pretty sweet . There were already a bunch of cars there ahead of us, but we ended up getting a real nice parking spot next to the Suede Palace, which IMO was the best hall besides the hall with the AMBR contenders. Here's some pics I took with the phone while waiting. (got a bunch more pics on the camera, but haven't even downloaded those yet and gone thru 'em).
Wish we would've met, or did we? I struck up conversations with a lot of other folks waiting in line. I usually hate waiting for something, but this was one time where it was fun to wait and the time went by fast. I would've taken more pics if I wasn't talking so much.
Great to see this part of the show. I saw the clean black 32, with the blown big block in another thread, and was quite taken on how tough it looked. Simple, clean, no nonsense car, but man is the engine a tight fit. I'll bet it's fun to play in, I can picture it sideways, smoke pouring off the rear tires, and the driver with a huge **** eating grin..... Anyway, thanks for showing us the other side of the show. Very cool.
Nice pics, been a while since I've seen the San Gabriels with snow pack on them. Oh yeah, the cars were nice to.
Thank you. The clear sky is fabulous. Most of the time when I've been there, it has been foggy or overcast.
You're all welcome. Sorry the pics have that fish bowl look to them, I just got a new phone and wasn't expecting that effect on the pics, I'll have to figure out the settings to get rid of it. Just to clarify, that line up was just the other "day of" drive-in registrants like me. There was a whole 'nother section with the guys who pre-registered.
That was a bad *** car. Unfortunately I didn't get any pics of it. Like I said, I got too busy talking and didn't get many pictures. But found these on another thread. Credit to haychrishay for these pics.
