In a year or two i will be looking for a car I dont know what i should i got a couple of ideas but i was wondering what other people thought. So i was wondering what i should i get i kinda either wanted to get a muscle car or a 50's style car.
Well, you could go on about this for hours-what do you like? Is this transportation or just fun? What's your budget? Can you and Dad do the work yourself? Muscle cars are really expensive now and not that much comfort to drive-remember they were the*****py low end cars that were stuffed with big old engines to go-and pretty much in a straight l;ine without much thought for whoa.Or corners. Forget Deuces, prices, prices prices. 50's are co0l, but you're going to have a lot lot of work to do. I would suggest a car that is plentiful, repro and original parts abound, easy to work on, looks cool and prices are as reasonable as any-the Model A
Get exactly what you want the first time. Don't settle. Otherwise you end up spending money on something you don't want instead of saving for what you really want. Having five or six cars that don't quite fit your idea is a waste of time and space. I see this***** happen all the time and just have to grin when the owners of these dubious collections start whining about the car they really want. Get it right the first time and be pleased ALL the time.
Perhaps a battered 60's truck? You won't feel bad about ditching it, when you decide what you really want - and you can fetch parts when you decide.
You mention a 50s style car now that covers a large area. Do you want to build a 50s styled hot rod?? or take a 50s model car and fix er up? Model As are a good choice for the 50s style rod as far as fixing up a 50s model car what are you fond of Shoebox fords, tri five chevys, late fords Mid 50s mopars, do you like the big tail fins? There are many styles out there maybe a bit of clarification as to what you want. Muscle cars prices are climbing and if you can get into the right one at a reasonable cost it can be a good investment IE Big block cars or limited runs... But remember many was abused when new. Dawg
Close your eyes. You've got a date with the prettiest girl in school and you're picking her up in the car you've built with your own hands....What car is that? And for your sake, I hope it has a back seat! Seriously, I have a dream--I'm driving out of my driveway in my 49 Fleetline and the radio is playing the opening of "Baby, Let's Play House" by Elvis, Scotty & Bill. That's what I'm working toward, and that's why I bought my car. Good luck with your dream, and stick around. I've learned more here than I did in all the books and magazines. You learn what works, and what doesn't and the really smart HAMBers will even explain to us idjits in plain english. Tucker
After I managed to master the english language I think I would lean towards something other than a muscle car. I can't decide on one for ya though, you just have to decide what you like and go from there. I'm guessing of I was leaning towards a custom than a '50s era car is the ticket, they cusomize fairly well and you can still find 'em reasonable. If a rod is what you're after than something older and lighter than a '50s era car is a good choice, it takes less to push a 2,000 lb car down the road than it does a 3,800 lb car.
