Well, I got my new axle installed! It'll drop the truck about 6" in the rear... pretty nice! I also found some sweet old Superior Engineering Superdrag I wheels... very cool.

Now I just need to get the front dropped, engine in... driveshaft made, brake lines installed, master cylinder connected... wiring harnes... oh god, this is going to take forever! :)

Looking good, Ben. I'm up to the wiring harness this weekend. Getting closer now that the weather is cooperating.

Did you "flip" the rearend? I like where the wheels are setting in the wheelwells. Are the jackstands are under the frame and if so, how much lower is it going to set with the weight of the truck on the springs?
Enquiring minds want to know. LOL

About 1" clearance to the bumpers right now (the jackstands are on the frame though), so about 3" to the frame. I am guessing once the weight is on the axle, and after I remove the bumpers, I'll have about 1" between the axle and frame. I am planning on notching the frame here, but I want to see how it sits first, so I know how high to go.

Oh, and yes, I just flipped the axle (and swapped it for an 8.8" Ford)... it was far easier than I thought, although centering it was a mini-nightmare because I left the swaybar mounts on the new axle...

well, there aren't too many, but you can go here: http://www.henrysrodshop.com and peruse my ramblings, and see some more photos... Hope you want to see more because you like it, not because you want to show your friends what a piece of **** it is! :D

As for the paint, I'm hoping it'll buff out...

well if I had a friend I might show them your pictures and make fun of it but since I don't I'll just admire it and make nice comments:D

my 14 year old boy has a 55 f100 we got him last fall and he said he's gonna be tearing into it tomorrow now that some of the mud is drying up, we got the front clip off and the tears welded up as well as the rear fenders so he starts cleaning things up and getting the engine bay ready for a splash of paint, we're gonna be leaving the old 223 6 banger in there til he learns how to drive and learns more about the mechanics part of things, then maybe we'll put a sbc in like ford intended:eek: :)

For the sake of getting mine on the road, I'm going to be putting in a Chevy 4.3L V6 for starters, but I'm planning on putting a Ford 460 in after a year or two... mmmm, big motor. :)

Do you have a shop manual for the truck? If so, take a look at their explaination of taking the front end sheetmetal off, it's pretty slick. Just have to remove the radiator brace bolts, and unbolt the fenders from the cab, and it comes off in one piece!

Good luck, and post some pics of your son's project!

More progress... I got the tires mounted, and dropped her to the floor last night. Wow, she's nice and low! Once I get the front end down, she'll be looking pretty sweet.

    Here's some pics:

That truck is looking pretty good, with those wheels.
Looking at your site, I saw this picture:

Is that the back half of an Opal welded to a Honda? Talk about a Redneck Rikshaw!

It's a Toyota Corolla, actually. I can't remember what the bike was, maybe a Honda or a Suzuki. Yeah, I couldn't believe it when I saw it... and Michelle thinks I waste my time on dumb things... HA! :D
