Not for me but I have a mate (Woodie) coming over for work for 3 weeks to Newark arriving Saturday, He needs pointers on Hotrod and Kustom places to go and see in his off time (and any HAMBers to meet). His company is supplying a car so he's mobile. He is pretty new to rodding and currently owns and drives a 60 Ford Consul (just lowered last weekend and getting a visor this one) that looks like it's gona end up with a Watson style paint job (when I get round to doing it) He has been lurking around the HAMB for a while and will be registering here within the next couple of days so will be adding his own post. He's not been to NJ or NY before but did used to live in Austin TX which is where he picked up his drag racing affliction that has become full on Kustomectamy!! What he needs is any rodshops (he will have a shopping list from me before he goes!!), meets, runs, places to go (even non-car!) to fill his off work time. Any help is much appreciated. Paul
rule #1 in newark....RUN..... there are a few swaps coming up startford springs e town not too much going on in newark as far a tradational...the differance between austin and here is they have mexicans driving the bling shits and here its the porta ricans

Paul, thanks for the post, I will be over next weekend and it looks like a three week stay, and no weekend work. so I think so sight seeing is a must. I have visited the USA on several occasions but never been to the northern states so this will be an interesting working trip. cheers
Carlisle Spring Meet is the weekend of April 22. Here's the website: www.carsatcarlisle.com If you havene't been, it's a sight to see. It's $9 to get in for the day,$5 to the firedepartment to park. There is a large car corral where anybody can seel anything from junk on up to a $2 million car produced for the 1933 Exhibition(World's Fair? I forget)> Mostly 60's cars these days, but some antiques and rods-I bought my Model A rod there about 4 years ago. There are zillions of venders up and down the hills-bring comfortable shoes to walk in, you'll need quarters to tip the port-a john attendants, and lots of guys bring carts or wagons to haul stuff in. On the plus side, there's some to lots of everything there. On the negative side, the last year or so, there's not as big a crown/not as many vendors everyday-I don't know if that's gasolinomomics or what. Still, it's a great day out, I always get something ven if it's weather strip or just more stainless hardware, and there's a great Indian restaurant in Harrisburg on the way home (Passage to India) that's usually a reward to the wives for putting up with us spending hours rummaging through piles of "junk." It's Pennsylvania hotrodding at it's best. I am trying to go on Saturday-usually I'd go earlier, but with the attendance thing, I thing the crowds will be down, but the most vendors will be there. Have fun. S
Chopolds shop is cool, great guy, go see him. If your bored and wanna find some ass, come check out my R&R club, killer music too, cars depend on the night. Or if your bored during the day and night, we are building a mean little hot rod pick up, 40's salt flats style. Finishing up the chop on a 50 Ford, building a 59 Panhead, and tweaking all the other cars around here in Neptune/Asbury Park. Pm if your coming towards the shore. Mel
He's always welcome to stop off at exit 9 in my neighborhood (New Brunswick). I can direct us to Stella and Newcy brown on tap. Or if he wants the full experience, he can come over to my house and help sand my 65 GMC, or 55 gasser. If he's good, I'll even let him fuck my sister And Newark ain't so bad! I can recommend some good food there. For a taste of home, head up to Kearny to The Thistle Pub for fish 'n' chips. The best this side of the pond.
