I'm looking for pictures of a 1954 Ford F100 radio, and if it did come with truck as a option. Also would like a picture of where it was located in the truck Thanks Mike

Google 1954 Ford truck dash and it looks like there is no provision for a radio. They were trucks back then.
Radio and power supply. Here's a restored one (Motorola) currently for sale with speaker, power supply and chrome bezel
As an extra cost option, radios were (relatively) expensive. Everything was extra cost in those days, even bumpers and sun visors, spare tires etc.
Thanks. That's why this forum is the best. Someone always knows something. That would explain the hole in my IP after it came back from the sandblaster. Sent from my LGLS990 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I may be wrong, but I think it was also a "dealer installed" option at that time...like a passenger-side sun visor was. Jonnie www.legends.thewwbc.net
That was a special Ford Factory butter knife. (there was a tool wall at the Dealers', mechanics went to it for factory tools. Never saw the black outline for that tool...that I remember.) But I haven't worked for a Ford dealer for 57 years... Gosh! Has it been that long???
On trucks of that vintage, most options were dealer installed. There was a Ford accessory radio that is correct for the F100, it has a round dial reminiscent of the '55 Ford car radio, but not the same thing, the pickup version didn't have pushbuttons. Also, Arvin, Motorola, and others made aftermarket radios that many people installed in trucks.
It might have been a long time ago, but you got to experience the best decades for cars and trucks Thanks Michael
To add to your interests,I worked at a Ford dealer in 55-56..however ,I was the one that did the installation on customers vehicles that wanted the "Factory Air cond" added.....Took all day to do one,
WOW.That is awesome. If I have any questions can I send you a message? Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I'm pretty sure 52 ford trucks had a factory radio option, but most had the factory blank off plate. I believe it was part of the "5 Star deluxe cab" model.
Have a couple of those radios if your interested in buying one. Option unrestored; restored original; restored with added chip for fm and aux; and converted to am fm aux stereo with or without USB and Bluetooth. Can work with 6 or 12 volt. Bill (360) 427 0513
I would be interested in either unrestored or original restored. Could you send pics and price. Thanks
The radios I remember in later Ford trucks (1961-1966) were installed by drilling only two holes for the stems. The dial mounted on the outside of the dash. No push buttons. I'm pretty sure these were dealer installed. I don't know how early this style radio appeared or how long it lasted. It could have been available in '54, but I can't swear to that. I think 1967 trucks had factory installed radios available, but again not certain. Good luck.
I have owned 3 '54 Effies, two with a radio and one with just the hole. I have never owned a first gen F-100 that did not have the hole for the radio or the radio. None of them were butched like that one. I am going to guess that yours happened under a tree on the farm.
pretty much unless you had a Cadillac or similar car every option was dealer installed in 1954. many moons ago I bought a box of radio delete plates from 1949-1954 Chevrolets that was found at a dealership. they were not NOS, they were all dealer takeoffs from brand new cars. they tossed them in a box even though there was no good reason to keep them.
Not all dealer options but pretty much everything on a truck except the tires was optional up into the mid '60s. Hell rear bumpers were optional until the govt required them. That said the ratfink is correct here the radio would have been a dealer option in the mid '50s.
