    Hi all,

I have a ***led 1942 chevy pickup. I would like as much help as possible decoding the VIN, but have been having a hard time over the last few weeks. I am pretty certain that the VIN number came off of the engine or transmission as I cannot find it on the body currently. Can anyone tell me how to decode these old 9 digit VIN's?

    thank you!

ID plate should be on the right cowl side under the hood held on by 2 rivets.

yes. I felt I explained my vehicle well enough and was respectful. what concerns do you have about my introduction? i'm relatively easy to get along with. your at***ude seems to suggest otherwise.

    Welcome from Southern MD.
Don't sweat the small stuff. A simple introduction is fine, most don't even do that. As far as your question goes, a lot more people will see it on the main board. If you put a general area as to where you are from on your profile it could help you down the road if you need a hand or want to sell something with out shipping h***les. Just a suggestion.

Thank you, I'll repost this there. I need to get that added to my profile but will have to do it on my PC, the mobile app doesn't seem to have a field for that.

    Thanks!
