    ive seen pictures and movies and all ,but never heard who the land belongs to.is it state owned?

    The Bonneville Salt Flats is administered by the Bureau of Land Management. That's part of the Department of the Interior.

    Google Bonneville Salt Flats, and there are many sites with the history...

    I'd have to check to be sure but I believe that Packard had an aircraft engine iin it when it set that speed.:D

    Wayno, it could have been taken at Bonneville, and what you might be seeing in the background is one of the dikes that the company who mined the salt for its potassium content, built up to channel the disolved salt into their settlement ponds.

    But .. it could be Daytona. To bad the picture doesn't say where.

    This picture is from Daytona. If it was from Bonneville, you'd have mountains in the background. No mountains, and ocean, its NOT Bonneville. Most likely Daytona. This is why they used to have geography classes in high school.

    maybe the camera couldnt capture the mountains? I dont know much about cameras but old picture=old camera.

    The mountains kinda fill up the sky in that area. Hard to miss.
