Hello, My last introduction wasn't much of an introduction, so I was advised to re-do. My name is Wyatt, i'm from central Missouri near Hermann. I travel all over the US and Canada for work. I have a 1942 Master Deluxe that I will be restoring soon, my dad has several collectibles (mostly tractors, but a couple trucks etc.) I would appreciate any help or tips on my '42. Currently I just drug it out of its resting place and will be moving it into our new shop as soon as i'm finished with the wiring. I have been searching for a way to decode the VIN number to get a little bit of history on the truck itself, but I have not yet found anything accurate. Thank you all, Wyatt
Hi Wyatt You did a great job on that post...just one more thing to do is go to your profile page and edit it so as to include the information you have posted above,, Enjoy the HAMB
Hi. Vin numbers & those little strip plates did not come into existence until in the 1960's. There was a rectangular plate on firewall looking toward firewall on the right side on the old Chevies. My car is about 25 miles from here so I cannot look but from memory this plate is above and to the left of the old voltage regulator. Maybe 3" x 5" or so in size. What it designates is a combination of body style, year, color and engine #. I do not have my book with me right now but if you can find that plate & post the info on it I can decode it tomorrow. On my 46 Coupe there is also a plate o the right side somewhere - maybe on door jam or somewhere nearby that has the Body serial numbers. If you post the size of the plate you have and the info on it either me or someone else should be able to decode what you have on it. jimmie
Thanks guys, I should be home from work late today so I'll try to stop in at the farm and look again. I believe the "VIN" or serial number on the ***le came off of the engine block. I appreciate it, Wyatt Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
