I don't know of any, but that doesn't mean you can't. That looks like some really nice sheet metal, lots of directions you could take a build with that.
It could be hot rodded, but I would try to find a collector of big trucks. That looks really nice and those guys sometimes pay big $$'s for odd trucks. I have an aquaintance that owns construction companies and collects that size truck. The numbers he talks about spending to buy and restore them is scary. Makes 32 Fords seem cheap.
There full rear fenders too. It is supposed to run. The 4cyl looks good. It was stored in a barn for years.
That may be the last one in existence and it looks pretty complete. Should be preserved if possible. Here is a Durant web site. It appears there are less than 10 Rugby trucks left. http://www.durantcars.com/registry/rugby/index.shtml
Here are some pics. Its pretty complete. It looks like the cab's wooded frame is made of ash. It needs to be replaced.
You're welcome! That is a mega rare piece of Canadian history that deserves to be in a museum or preserved by a collector. There are plenty of other old trucks. If you find one that was done up 10 or 20 years ago you can buy them for practically nothing.
Im going to contact them tomorrow. I havent even checked what model it is, it just knew it was ultra cool.
yeah something like that DOES NOT get hot rodded. now if say all you had was the cab then sure have at it but this is a mostly complete truck and should be restored.
An uncle has one that is not on that registry. Pretty complete, been sitting out in the ND air for a long time. NO, it's not for sale.
There are a few of them I know of, gorgeous trucks IMHO, they have the same front as a Durant car. Speaking of oddballs, I just got a 32 and a 34 Indiana trucks, and a 25 Acme and a 1917 Republic!
We've got a 1929 Rugby by Durant Motors. Owned it for nearly 10 years. It's a fun vehicle to take out on a Sunday drive. The picture isn't great and there is rugby equipment in the back (yeah, the sport. My husband is the local men's rugby coach!) We are open to selling it eventually so if you know of anyone interested in owning this piece of "rare Canadian history" let me know. For the right price we'll let it go.
