Snowing here so working in the shop today. Kinda made a mess of the lower rocker mock up but it told me what i need to do. Also with partial jambs i could take a sweep of the car. It's better flowing then the gl*** car.

This is gonna be one really nice 32. (loved the corvette based special) The metal work is coming along nicely (please sneak in a pix of the vett special after paint?) Keep up the good work! (and dont forget a couple of pictures of the vette special when finished!)

Damn! So, 2017 is the year for fabrication? If so, bring it on!

So today i finished up mocking up the door jamb and hinges. The jamb is extra wide to bolt to the jig. I will trim it down when it comes back apart.
I'm using the 32 closed car hinges from united pacific that do not fit 3w. I'm doing a 4 hinge set up with the chopped roof instead of the 6 hinge set up for a stock height. I moved the RF hinge to the L back. Looks like they will work with some hammer mods. Built the jamb pockets etc. I doubt they would fit a stocker. Moving along!

Today i made some door under strutcher out of 1" tube with some sweeping bends. Now i have a door that latches. Some fine tuning to do but good overall. Ray

Now that i have a swinging door frame i clamped the gl*** door on it to get the sweep of the lower rocker and start to build the sill. Lot's of guessing and thinking........Ray

  12. I hope you look at the views this thread commands. It's a little like a magic show to me, and others. Too bad you can't hear the audience "Oos & Awes" and the occasional gasp!

Today was to build the cover for the front door jamb. It has the door gap return and also the lip for mounting the front body panel. The under structure is 12 gauge and the cover 20 gauge. Once i get these openings figured out i can do a body panel. Ray

I see other metal workers and think the same thing............I'm self taught and fairly motivated. I'm not afraid to fail and power through. I'm a drywall contractor by trade and do this after beer thirty.
I like making yard art also

I have a short attention span.....................................
A quick update on my door jamb. finished the cover with pockets and returns for the door gap and a lip for welding on the quarters. Gives it a nice factory look. It's the first time i have done these. Ray

The next thing on the list was window structure. Nice to work on something that does not hinge. I will add a lip to the back so it can be a glue in gl*** or hinged frame.

Ice here in Oregon so hunkered down in the shop. Templating out the cowl with paper and metal to see what it's going to take to make this work.

So the lesson of the day is no more beer in the shop! Always liked boat tails so i unbolted the rear of the 32 jig and was playing around. I have seen versions of them and some are OK and some not so much.
Here it is...........Is this a WTF or may be cool? Go easy on me, Ray

The other day, I was reading about the perils of drinking.
So I decided to give up reading!
