Hello guys, my name is Cesar and i Live in Brazil. This is my first post and i need your help. I'm building a Ford 1932 Roadster w/ a 8ba Flathead, but i dont have the original points to fix the engine in a correctly place. I think he's very foward, because the crankshaft pulley are at the top of the caster frame, and this place is for the radiator, and radiator housing + grille. Anyone have this distance for help me (distance of radiator housing untill the water bomb mount? The last pic i take from the book (how to build a period corretly hot rod). Regards from Brazil.
The 8ba pulley arrangement sets further forward than a 59a , do you have a stock k member for trans? Do you intend on keeping the flat firewall on that body? Whats going on with the front crossmember are you going to try to do a transverse leaf spring again?
When we built our 32 we situated the engine front to back based on the firewall. The firewall was the base starting point for us. From there the other parts can be adjusted front to back. The back of the engine is approximately 1" or more from it. Used an A front cross member and built our engine mounts like you did. Should give you room for the fan & radiator mount. We also set the front cross member about 1" or so forward from stock. Wanted that little extra bit of room. Hope this helps....................
Like ruff dawg said, use your firewall as a baseline. I have an 8ba in my 31 with 32 rails. I also cheated my A front member forward an inch or so. I didn't want to cut the firewall so this was essential. since your perimeter frame is built this might not be an option. As for the measurement I've got 6 1/2" from the back of the rad to center of the front motor mount bolt. This gives me 1" clearance between the 8ba fan and back surface of rad. Hope this helps
It looks like you have the motor mounts to close to your cross member, I have 6 1/2 inches from center of the motor mounts to the center of radiator mounting holes Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
