Technical 46 ford second gear hits aftermarket head

    I have a 46 Ford with a v8 and I put on Offenhauser heads. the lever for second gear is hitting the head, Is there a fix for this. I have a stock manual trans with column shift

    The shifter linkage should be adjustable. If you can't adjust it out, you may have to heat and bend the lever on the column so it clears.

    Both shift levers are adjustable.
    From beneath the car disconnect the rod from the trans, loosen the locknut & tighten the clevis a couple of turns (to shorten the linkage). Do both rods equally until you're happy.

  5. Huh? How is the shift lever or linkage coming anywhere near the head?
