I don't know what happened, but one of my posted vanished! I was posting stuff at 2 in the morning though... I might not have been paying attention. Here's the last one.

Awesome work as usual, everyone. Brush, love your digital work, and Buick59, you've got a good eye for photography.

Have you ever been in a spot where you want to try something new to you, while a****st Pros? Maybe I have some skills with spraying paint, but I found my shelf in the midst of a room full of Pinheads in DETROIT. I had come with the intent to watch, ask questions and give the little hairy sticks a go. But as I watched all around, Guy’s n Gal’s are pulling lines, which all look so sweet. I knew from fumbling at home by myself, that if I where to pull my hands out of my pockets my neon greenness will glow across the room. I watched a kind, soft-spoken man pull Blue on blue 1/16 lines. One side then the other, perfect cemitree all the way down with out a pause, finished it with several vertical lines 1/16 apart, then with a couple more stokes it turns into a face.
And then another fellow say’s "hey are you ready to jump in" ... No not yet I reply, in self-defence. He understands I think, I hope, although I had mentioned to him earlier I was coming to the meet and I was going to lean on him for guidance. But after watching some more, listening to the experience talk about different tips and tricks. I wanted to what till I got home, to attempt this Artform again.
Yet another fellow walks up and asks, where are you from, why aren’t you painting? Oh I ‘m just here observing, this is new to me. He grabs a blank and say’s I’m starting another one; I’ll show you my way of doing things. Sure that can’t hurt. That’s what I’m here for, to learn, right. He starts with the basic’s explains tools, supplies, prep.and lay out, how to hold the brush depending on what type of lines your doing. Then he load’s the brush, let’s (makes) me feel the loaded brush on the pallet. Then he pull’s lines giving instructions all the while. It was a very good lesson and I was grateful he took the time to explain everything to me.
... But then this brush is held in front of me … HERE DO SOMETHING. “Dam” there is still people here, and they all have eyes. But this fellow had gave so much time to me, I felt I owed him some effort, and hell I’m in a foreign country, if I become the "Jam’s entertainment", I can hide in my home country the rest of my life Eh!
So I took the brush and he stepped back. I made some pitiful strokes and turned to see him walk away to leave me experiment on my own. So then some more over reduced strokes followed by some off angle strokes. People would p*** behind me, stop look, but didn’t laugh (thanks) and some would offer more suggestions. All in all everyone was great, several approached me to help me over the day. I really had nothing to fear, this was a safe bunch to expose my non-abilities. The kicker was a door prize of a brush and a pinhead saying don’t leave without your panel. Through the day he had produce several panels and one he had made special with “REBEL” across the bottom. I have mentioned no names, you know who you are. I want to Thank the hosts and ALL attendants, you are a great group! Thanks for the clever gentle nudge, to get me pulling some paint. And Thank you to my panel donor, it will hang in this room http://rebel-air.net/_wsn/page15.html http://rebel-air.net/_wsn/page16.html (The colours will fit here well) REBEL / Ed Ryall ... We've all made the mistakes your going to make, and we wipe it off and try again.
And if we could figure out how to get paid for the paint we wipe off,we would be RICH !

Hopefully things are not so Mysterious now,
and you learned enough to make your progress a little easier.

I'll post these two pics but I have to also post this disclaimer for anyone that looks at them! [IMG]...

these are literally my first two attempts at pinstriping and I didn't even practice lines before starting these designs, so they are far from perfect. I'm posting them mainly so that anyone out there thinking of striping at all may see them as an example of a complete beginner's work and then decide to take that first step of picking up the brush. There are so many talented stipers on this board and it's a little intimidating to put up anything less than amazing in their presence, but I'm hoping that someone might see my first attempt and offer me some pointers. I've been practicing just about every night and it does get easier.

If there's anyone in the Baltimore area on here that stripes and wants to come to my house for beer and a little striping practice i'd love to learn next to someone with a little experience.

The orange and red one is my favorite although my hubby put a catalog on top of it not realizing it wasn't dry and some of the paint pulled off when I picked the catalog up : (

    Stacey,

    I like the first one,
it's got an organic look to it that's real refreshing,
I see so much pinstriping on these Friday Art Posts that after a while it all starts to look the same,

nice to see something a little different.

For some reason,Women can pick up Striping quicker than Men.I don't know why.
What are you using for brushes?

There are a few Stripers around the MD area,
Skate Fink is the first to come to mind,I know there are others.

The other suggestions I can offer is try to include some longer lines,
S shapes, and tighter curves in you designs.I'm sure that will come with experience.

    Oh,and Practice,Practice,Practice. [IMG]

I'm using an xcaliber 00 and one-shot reduced with mineral sprits at the moment. I plan to buy a mack next to see what that feels like and get a finer xcaliber as well.

The hard turns are the part that are evading me the most at the moment. The brush wants to kick out on me. I can do gentle, sweeping curves it's the tight ones that are the hardest.

OK, here's my first contribution. I havent airbrushed for about 15 years so I thought I would give it a go and this is the first T-shirt I did, so I thought I would do something familiar free hand ...

Yeah Mike. It's a Holga. I use tri-x 320 for b/w and 400nc (c-41) for the color stuff. There are some steps to take to lightproof them. They leak light. Check your PMs for some links.
