So I am building my Banger, I got a High Compression head and a high lift cam. The thing starts up and runs/ idles great. But as soon as I try to drive it, or rev it high it just bogs out. I am running two of the new Stromberg 97's but I jetted them way down ( 33's ). Pretty much narrowed it down to a fuel problem.

Its like the key switch gets turned off, just loses its power.

Any suggestions to get this thing down the road are greatly appreciated!

You're going the wrong way on your jetting. Start by going back to the stock jets (45 I think) and you should see an improvement over where you are now. You may actually have to go larger than stock to eliminate the hesitation coming off idle. With two carbs you are halving the airflow through each carb so the vacuum pulling fuel through the jets is weaker than with a single carb; thus you may need larger than stock jets to get the fuel ratio proper.

I believe 5280A2 is correct you have gone too far and are too lean. If you pull the choke out does this help to eliminate the bog? If so then going from the S to W position on the throttle connection should also help. If still not enough larger mains. A V8 with dual 97's usually runs well on 043 & 69PV.

  4. Before you do anything..Please note the routing of your fuel line...Still a gravity fuel supply????
if so,you have an air block where the fuel line goes higher than the tank outlet
