Hi all, recently I had my Series2A Land Rover gearbox rebuilt. When I reinstalled it is had no problem putting it in and bolting it up to the motor. However I could not change gears because of a dragging clutch. Forum search points to the pilot bushing which I have since polished up and lubed with copper antiseize compound. Hopefully this does the trick. I guess my question is why didn't I see this in any guides or shop manuals as something to prepare for. Is it common or was it just unlucky? Any work calling for trans removal should at least include visual inspection & lube of the bushing, even if the clutch stays undisturbed.
What happened to the "Traditional" hotrod and custom website???So we are now doing Land Rovers and such?
^^^ Maybe a little ... I answered because I helped stuff a 260 Ford into a blown up '60 diesel station wagon 30 some years ago.
this is traditional even if the original posters application is not. Knowledge passed on is the purpose of the forum is it not?
Sure hope the clutch disc was installed facing the right way. I know someone who had it backwards and chased the problem in many directions but that. KK
