So this is my first attempt at building a lifelong dream and I am getting to the point where questions are coming up. I'm handy and can build most of what I want, but I'm learning as I go. Here is a little run down of what I'm working with. I bought a 1929 Dodge Brothers DA 4 door last year, so far I have boxed the frame with 2x3 steel, stretched the frame 12", added 4 link cool over on the rear with 8 3/4 sure grip rear end with 3.91 gears, has a 440 bored .40, polished and ported heads, venolia dished pistons, solid roller cam, roller rockers, TCI Super Streetfighter 727 reverse manual valve body, 3,500 stall.. as it sits I am at the point where I need to figure out steering, gauge install and wiring, all of which I am clueless on. I do have a 65 Dodge sweptline steering box which we are planning on extending the pitman spindle and it will mount to the inside of the frame and a full set of barely used Autometer gauges. I guess my first question would be, would a wiring harness kit be the way to go? I've looked around and the 22 circuit universal wiring harness from speedway seems on point, any input out there on that? Here are a few pics of the build. All of it has been done in the garage with what I had on hand besides a few pieces of steel, I like to work with what I have. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  2. nice work so far

yes, if you have never wired a car before a kit would be the way to go. i'm not familiar with the Speedway kit. i have used Painless in the past, but recently tried a kwik Wire with good results. with a basic car i usually go with 12-16 circuits, but having more and room to grow is a good thing

that steering box you plan on using....will it be set up side steer or cross steer?

also....no offense, that rear end setup is more of a drag race thing to me. i'd suggest longer ladder bars that were angled in the center. others here may have a different opinion

Thanks for the input, I usually end up over killing everything and thought the 22 ckt was a bit much but with the electric fuel pump, electric fan, electric heater box and possibly a few other accessories I thought it would be better to have the extra circuits.

The motor has monster torque, 550 lb/ft so I went with more of a straight bar set up. I wasn't sure to be honest but just did a lot of research and thought that was my best bet with the space I had. Plus I happened to have the parts from a cheap parts car I had from my other build.

As for the steering, the box is set up for side steer and I am keeping the stock front axle and steering setup. Here is a pic of the type of steering box I have and planning to use. [IMG]
