Did 55/56 Ford have or offer a light for the Glove box?
    Thanks

Hmm...I don't think my 56 Fairlane has one, but would have to double check.

My wagon does not either. I could see it being handy though.

I know I go crazy with details sometimes, but......instead, I just keep a flashlight in the glovebox anyways, lol.

    Guys
Reason I asked is that when I was getting the new wiring harnesses, they (vendors) also list a wire harness for a glove box light.
Thought I'd add it, but wondered if anyone actually had one in their car?
Seems like it would be nice to have (and a flashlight is also a good idea).
    Thanks
    Jim
I wish I had a list of available accessories

Maybe pick one up from the local Pick and Pull and adapt it.

I think they were only installed in Mercs and Lincolns. If ya wanted a glovebox light ya hadda buy a Merc or Lincoln.

It was an accessory in 56 Fords. The glove box was called a "parcel locker" in the book. You could also get a map light, a trunk light and an engine compartment light.

they were offered starting in 1949 as an accessory.proper name for kit is luggage compartment light lamp FAA-18256-A.the one I have came in a orange and dark blue box.also marked made in Canada I believe the U.S. one would be the same.they would be proper to at least 1956 possibly beyond.

I apologize old age is catching up to me it has been over 40 years since I bought both the trunk[luggage]light and the glove box lights.after looking through 50 years of collecting parts I now have the proper part number this one started in 1952 glove compartment light FAA-18254-A.I see that I paid $12.for it.I should have caught the term luggage compartment but some of the****les they used back then did not make sense when viewed in todays terms.again sorry for confusion.CRS is an easy thing to blame my friend al zimer uses it a lot.

Here's a photo of the installation instructions from a listing on ebay. NOS for $175 plus shipping. If you click on the photo it gets bigger.
