So I had bought the car in October that was pretty good to go. Has the 235 with the manual three speed ******. Not to long ago i was driving and it sounded like the linkage had came apart inside the transmission. Like a for had dropped down and was bouncing around. Today I'm stuck trying to drop the ****** out to see what needs to be done. I seem to be at the point of pulling the sleeve back on the torque tube. I don't think it's coming far eneough back.
If you plan to keep this car, spend $20 to $25 and buy yourself a GM/Chevrolet Service Manual. Click on the link, taken from the manual, to read how to remove your transmission. Follow steps 1 through 14. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/shop/1949_53/07trans/7_005.HTM
Amen to that. There are a whole lot of things on this car that are very easy to do, but are fundamentally impossible to guess at. One quick read, and you are golden.
