question, I just picked up an all original 38 ford coupe. Does anyone make adapters to put regular bolt pattern wheels on it?
If they did, the wheel offset would be a ridiculous amount. However, an adapter is made to go from 5 1/2" to wide five (10 1/4").
You could put later 39-41 drums on your 38. While your at it you could also switch over to the later juice brakes.
39 is the last year for wide 5 and first year for juice. You may have that setup as the previous owner may have wanted to keep the original look/wheels while stepping up to hydraulics.
The adapters you need are '40-'48 drums and hubs, which gives you the same 5 on 5.5" pattern used on Ford pickups for many years
Great thanks for the info, luckily I have the fronts from a t Bucket I pulled apart. Just need the rears. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
What part of the country are you in? I've got 3 or 4 '40-'48 hubs/drums you can have for free. I'm sure the drums will need turning, but if you're close to Rockmart GA and want to come get them, be glad to get them out of my way.
