Sorry you are having a problem getting honest responses. There are more than a few HAMBers who would rather give grief than help. I, personally, am not sure why you would even bother wasting breath and bandwidth if you didn't want to help. Can you post a copy of the consignment agreement they want?

It's pretty clear that no one here,so far, has used Gateway. You might check some of the "other" hot rod sites or even AACA. (PM sent). Good luck.

Thanks, I have done all that before posting the question here.
I could not find many reviews from sellers.......many from unsatisfied buyers though.
The buyers in my opinion did not do their "due diligence" and did not inspect the car themselves.
They foolishly took the salesman's, over the phone, recommendation saying how great the car is..............

  5. wow, there something....take things with a grain of salt dude... not everyone here are jerks... I'm sure these guys aren't either.... just saying. relax

I took my 34 there, took a while to sell. They ask you what you want in your pocket and add their part. I got a offer of $5000 less and took it because I took it there to sell. Read fine print about if you sell car after you take it home if it doesn't sell. I would probably use them again because a lot of people look at their web site. Bill

I consigned my '36 Chevy pickup to Gateway in St Louis in the fall of 2013. I wanted $36,000 and had a lot more than that in it but knew I was going to lose money. I think Gateway adds 12% for their commission, but for the first month or so that it is on the market they add a little more, so it was listed at $42,000. It sold almost 6 months later for an undisclosed amount but I ended up taking a couple thousand less in order to get the deal done.

Am I happy? I guess so, the truck is gone and I didn't have to deal with trying to sell it myself. My advice to you would be to decide how much you want to get out of the vehicle and then stick to your guns. I know another guy from my area who stuck to his guns and got exactly what he wanted out of his car. Yet another guy from my area has sold 4 vehicles there, so he must think they are ok.

  8. I am not saying they are good or bad. Just what they are. If you are seeing negative responses from the buyers then that tells me there might be some misrepresentation involved. The sellers are happy, they got their money. If you are OK with that than go for it.

  9. Agree 100% but what you are saying is that they trusted them and got screwed. Maybe I'm an idiot but I have a hard time excepting money from companies like that.

Saw a car they had and looked interesting but thought it was $4,000-$5,000 overpriced. Called the salesman and told him I was interested but offered $4,000 less then the asking price. He stated they don't call the car owners with offers unless a $1,000 non refundable deposit is received. Don't know about y'all but I don't do business that way. I wouldn't do business with them if they were the last car dealer on earth.
I buy, build and sell cars all the time. eBay is the best exposure there is. Just make sure on your listing you state the car is for sale locally and you reserve the option to end the listing at any time. That way there are no eBay fees to pay.
