I have a thing for 1939-46 chevy trucks especially 39-40. I buy every sheetmetal or trim part I come across that is fairly priced. There usually is a door or 2 at every swap I go to. I think I have about 24? spare doors at this time. My gf gives me a hard time about them constantly so I made a decision to fix the problem... I just don't count them anymore or tell her I bought any. hehe
It looks as though you may need to attend the same self help group I am a charter member, People who totally lack organizational skills dot com HRP
I think I have 2 parts cars for almost every project I have......plus all the extra parts I find. But then most of my projects are parts cars, too......
I don't have a problem with 32 ford parts. When I need some I just go to my dad's ba*****t and get them. He has a problem
I rely on the internet for my parts now. There was a time I bought every 34 ford part I came across and rented a storage garage for them. One day I realized I needed the $$$ more than I needed the parts and swap meeted them and used the HAMB cl***ifieds to sell off anything I didn't need. My wife took over the storage garage for her ****! I still get to write the damned check for it every month. Ok, ok...so I still have a corner for my swap meet parts and a few 34 parts that are too big to store at home. ..................and there are 8, #3300 and #3326 AFB carbs stored over there too but that's only until I get a dual quad setup all built and de-bugged for my 370 Pontiac motor. Alright..I guess I also have everything it takes to build a KILLER 301 smallblock except a cam. This is only if my Pontiac motor isn't what I expect it will be...been collecting sbc parts for 15-20 years.
Come on Bill, you actually sold more than you spent? That sounds like something a man would tell his wife or girlfriend! HRP
Looking for a good drivers door for my '46 PU. Got a spare, or are all your extras for the p***enger side?
Depends on what you call good. None of them are perfect, they usually require some repair on the bottom. I do have 1 or 2 that are drivers side---I am equal opportunity when it comes to doors or any other parts.
Not only have these parts become an addiction in my work spaces... I've got tons of parts galore for my off-topic Triumph TR3 basket case build----parts for my 1948 Willys jeep, and a huge jumble of parts and 'leftover' parts for my 57' Peterbilt log truck, which is only a bigger problem storing anything 'necessary'....not to mention my 41' Ford pickup and 31' Ford coupe, which are my on-going projects! I'm not sure how this happened actually, because 'normally' I'm pretty frugal and somewhat tidy with other things....but, once I'm in the back yard and away from the house, anywhere near my garage....it's like all sanity has left the property configurations. I have NO inside wall space, nor do I have any more room in my storage sheds....my wife threatened me with "3 square meals" if I ever try to invade her garage space and said: "Just one time...I'm warning you!!!" with that evil finger she flashes every once in a while in my direction. I tried storing a few things under the bed (till she started smelling oil filtering thru' the boxes)...and at friends houses....under the cars, and in the 'upper' kitchen cupboards that she can't even reach....''for a short period of time of course" I just can't see the point of getting rid of the stuff at this point, if there is a good possibility I may need it in my builds....once they are running and drivable, I honesty will try and get rid of most of it...but till then, I might actually need the stuff still......why go buy something with hard earned $$$ again if I already have it?....it's my story....it's all I got in justifying it, and I'm gonna have to go with it!
So nice to see all you fellow addicts come out of the parts closet. recently sold many many boxes of old motorcycle parts, well I did after i had spent hours going through stuff trying to remember why i was keeping that Gold Star primary chain or one head from a HD flathead ... with infinite variations. Now i cant even remember the boxes but I know Ill need a part that was in one of them......... Now to start on the rest of the car stuff so I can have the pleasure of ac***ulating new to me stuff, except Shoebox stuff as thats the car du jour oh yeah and any 39 Chev coupe stuff and maybe a GMC inline........... rehab is for quitters.
