Hello Can anyone tell me what clutch & adapters I need to mate a 264 nailhead to a 47 column shift 3 speed Ford box ? I have a Cragar 309 adapter + a new flywheel which I think is for an 11" Chevy clutch All help much appreciated Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I've got a similar problem to you. 401 Nailhead, Offy Nailhead to Flathead adapter then MEC Flathead to T-5 adapter. 11" GM clutch fouls in the Offy adapter. Local Commodore (read GM) 10 1/2" pressure plate bolts to Buick flywheel but diaphragm fingers have too small a diameter to mate with the early Ford throw-out bearing. kiwi4d on here had the same problem with his Flathead/T-5 combo and found the solution but when I asked for the info he never replied on his thread and ignored the PM I sent. Where did your new flywheel come from as if it came from Bendtsen or Russ Martin like mine it is drilled for both 11" and 10 1/2" GM pressure plates. Also do you have the pilot bearing adapter which is required with that engine adapter? It is Cragar part # 10-3091
A 49-51 Merc pressure plate (borg & beck) will do what you need...will bolt to flywheel and has fingers for 1 3/8 T O Brg. Do not use a diaphragm PP
New flywheel came with the motor but has not been fitted , so not sure of its origin, & no I do not have a bearing adaptor ! Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I have a rebuilt 49-51 Merc clutch(10 inch) in Borg and Beck for sale. The bolt pattern has 6 evenly spaced holes in the pressure plate. $40 plus ship to your door. Thanks flatheadjohn47 Texas 979-595-7324 cell.
