  3. LOL. That one belonged to John Riggs, here in the Springfield, MO area. Was a neat looking beater hot rod with no upholstery panels in it. Y block powered, too!

John sold it to a guy up around KCMO, if I remember correctly, this past spring.

Disregard the Boogie Van, the Ford Escape, the dead Christmas tree still in my yard, and the split wishbone in the background. The coupe is finally clean again. Today was the 31st day of the 41 of 2017 that I've driven the old beater.

Your photography skills are improving, best shot yet. By the way I have a set of the plastic AR caps for those wheels if you would like them. Just kidding of course.

with all of the upgraded 40's here, did anyone keep one with a V8-60 and the passenger car side shift transmission with build pics?

Take a good look the front tires are relatively tall and the rears are shorter than most use nowadays. The front end is REALLY low, and the fender radius is just clear of the top of the tire at the back. I hope to get my convert to sit like that, 6.00x15 on the front, 7.60x15s on the back.

Didn't watch the Super Bowl last weekend. Instead, I took the '40 for a nice long drive out in the country, stopping for a coke on the way out of town.

I just had to stare at that for awhile. Kind of like trying to find a chair to sit in at the rod run so I can just take the car in for while and see all of the details. A very nice sedan ol55,thanks for sharing it this morning.

  13. Found this one while I was rummaging through some old pics on my PC. I took it at Bonneville back in 2002. No other info on it.

I cant recall if I have posted this, but it is one of my favorites. George Poteet had it at the Springfield Mo mini nats a few years ago. I have never seen any coverage of it any of the mags so have no idea of the story behind it. Obviously a 39 with some 40 trim. spf 2010 021.jpg

  17. Looks more like a 40 with some 39 trim. (headlights) :)

The ( Just me a 20 year old kid) doesn't belong in your answer. A 20 year old kid that does that kind of work is a big cut above in skills , talent and ambition !

It's kind of hard to tell at this angle but I would have to agree with OL55 on this one one. It looks like a 39 with 40 DLX Hood and grill to me.

  22. You guys.....It's obviously a '40 DeLuxe Covertible with '39 headlights.:).......I think Mr. Poteet just likes to be a "little" different from everyone else.:D The big difference between him and myself are our bank statements.:(

  23. That what I said!! :)

Since grills and headlights and trim is interchangeable the only way I could distinguish between a 39 and 40 was to look at the wipers. 39s were above the windshield and 40s were below. So my vote is that it's a 40 with 39 headlights. Do I win a prize?

Look at the roofline on that Poteet convert. I think itsa 39. It looks short to me.

The front bumper is a 39 also.
