Art & Inspiration HOW MANY OF YOU GUYS OWN A HOT ROD & A CUSTOM

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Feb 12, 2017.

  1. I consider my '40 a mild custom, and my '39 a Hot Rod. IMG_1856.JPG IMG_1848.JPG IMG_2066.JPG IMG_1983.JPG

  4. But Danny, "all hot rods are customs but not all customs are hot rods." :D

I get what you mean, you have never owned a sled. I have built a couple even built a bombita and a hopper (on juice not air), but never owned one either. Probably why it would never do for me to own certain cars, I would end up building a hot rod out of it if I owned it. LOL

That said I do own a clapped out model A sedan and a bike that someone told me was a custom a while back. I laughed about it, not even close to being a custom. ;)

Just me, but I think HAMBers spend WAAAAAAY too much time obsessing over what constitutes a hot rod/street rod/custom/musclecar, ect.

to me a custom has to have custom bodywork. even if it is only nosed and decked. you can't simply lower a car and put wheels on it and call it a custom..... but that's just me....

1949 International KB-2. My Grandpa started with a very nice 3/4 ton step side long bed that ran, and took 8" out of the bed and frame. Roughed in a Mustang II disc-brake front end and a 1967 Camaro 10 bolt rear. He passed in the middle of it, and after floating around my family untouched for 3 yrs, my Dad and I bought it and finished it in exactly one year. 350 crate motor/TH350, tilt wheel. Driven everywhere. Not a show truck/trailer queen...

Is the hood ornament that big or is there something on the ground giving it that illusion? HRP
