If you are building something other than a ratrod.... An S10 tank is close but the filler neck needs to be relocated on the tank.

If building a ratrod... No advice. Bad word in these forums.

It would be the earlier on for carbureted trucks. We put one in my brothers 51. If I can find the photos I will post them.

Several tanks will fit behind the rear axle, between the frame rails. You can bring the gas filler up behind the license plate, or put a 90 (PVC plastic elbow and a couple hoses with clamps works) in the fill tube and bring it to either side above the taillight.
A Dakota tank would almost fit in the original position. Gene

Buy the 85 S10 sending unit with the lowest fuel pump pressure available, then get a pressure regulator that will reduce the pressure to 3-5 lbs. Then pick up an aftermarket fuel gauge to match the S10 sending unit. You may also need to run a return fuel line from the regulator to the tank.
I know it sucks to spend the money, but this way, you will have a tank, pump, and gauge that all work together. Gene
