    Heres the pole.

Tell us what type of exhaust you have.

If your type isnt on the list, lets hear about it!

You can choose more than one at a time!

    Pictures welcome

Pepe runs 2 1/4 inch pipe with tiny mystery meat glasspacks positioned close to the front of the running boards behind a basically stock Flathead.....it sounds great to me.

Mines kinda odd- My olds came with duals from the factory and i had some long glasspacks on it till recently. I decided to go with a sneaky system since a 4500 pound car with drum brakes needs as little attention as i can get. So it has good sized headpipes that go into a custom y pipe and then a full 3" single pipe system through a magnaflow muffler and dumps behind the pass rear wheel. No tip- just slash cut and out of sight. Has a good friendly tone until you step on it and the the fire & brimstone awake from the 371.

    Works for me,

I've got "Race Mufflers" with 2.5" inlet and outlet that I got from Summit and I have no idea what they sound like yet. Have not had a chance to install them. Otherwise I am runnin' a single glasspack on a SBC

Ive got headers directly to 2 1/2 flowmasters to a dump pipes on my truck. They exits under the front of the bed/back of the cab, pointing to the gound. It gives off a mean loud base rumble.

I have stock exhaust on my 64 merc... but thats all gonna change real soon

What's coming for my '50 shoebox:
BBK shorty headers -> dual 2.5 inch y-tubes that split between un-screwable cap dumps behind the front wheels, and 24" red-hots glasspacks to rear exhaust

  19. Here's mine. I think they're 2" pipe to 30" Smithy's with cut-outs and 1 1/2" pipe to operational lakes.

On my 55, I am running stock manifolds with 2 1/2 inch pipe that runs into an X pipe then into a pair of super 40's from flowmaster. The 429 CJ sounds real good with that setup. Well i like it.

  21. hey johnny, got a pix of that? was thinkin bout doin s-trapps on end of mega phone headers of small block before i saw this post of yers...in yer humble opinion how do they sound? would ya git tarred of em on a long run (a.k.a too Noisy)? Do ya secretly wish ya had mufflers? let us know.

  22. dual exhaust with what looks like 1.5" pipe all the way back...no mufflers or glasspacks :)

  23. I notice quite a few of you have pipes that dump toward the ground. Do you find that you blow dirt all over other folk's cars? People with gloss black cars hate that.

I do see a bit of dust flyin, but i dont drive on alot of dirty roads, and to be honest, im not payin attention to glossy black cars!

  27. Lots of shows and gatherings take place in dirt and dusty parking lots. I hate to look like a anal retentive fidget dusting my car all the time. Maybe there should be a seperate area for shiny cars. I don't really like how Good Guys tries to segregate cars by type, but …maybe there's something to it. Hmmmmm.

Uh, also, the style pendulum seems to be swinging to finished cars. Lots of folks are painting candies and shiny paint. Especially customs. Personally, I'll be glad when people stop venerating ratty, rust buckets and realize that primer is a step on the way to a nice car. This is a traditional board and that is the way it was done in the past. I understand not having the money to paint a car. I don't get calling one with rust through and dents a done deal. I think that looks like something Tom Joad drove from Oklahoma in.

My sedan has stock Corvette "first design" sheet metal manifolds that are ceramic coated through 2 1/2" headpipes routed on the right side of the frame, then into an "X" pipe just in front of a Spin-Tech 2-in 2-out (2 1/2") single muffler.....from there its paired up 2 1/2" pipes out under the bumper. It sounds pretty rowdy.

The Flower Roadster Truck has it's stock flatty exhausting thru home-made lakes style headers (Speedway kit) with 2" pipes through a pair of 27" Thrush glasspacks out to the back of the truck. Sounds like a flathead with glasspacks (what else should it sound like?)

Hey man, I didnt realize you were talking about car shows and show/shines. The truck I am talking about with the dump pipes is my daily driver. I thought you were asking if I pay attention in traffic to all the shiny black new cars and stuff.

I think if I had dump pipes on a car I knew I was going to show in a dusty/dirty lot, I think Id park quick and shut it off. My 64 will have bellflowers and specailty echo cans.

I completely agree with the whole rusted out death traps and calling it good. If I had a rusted out rod, I would drive it, hell yea!, but I wouldnt say it was done. It would be a driving work in progress. Patina and rust is cool i guess, but in my book, not near as cool as giving it life with a sick shiny paint job.

Who says it has to be expensive to paint a car anyways? If you can build your own can, you sure as hell can paint it I would think.
