Need info on converting auto box to direct drive.no converter or clutch .The two candidates are a 3spd glide and a 904 chrys . I believe that a tap into the hydraulic lines is how its done ,but . . . ?

I don't know.... but I did sleep at a holiday inn express.
I've seen one years ago and it appeared to have a manual fluid valve the was opened and closed from the drivers seat. I ***ume it byp*** pressure until closed.....

Look into the IMCA series of race cars. Most if not all use this exact transmission design with a manual control and no converter.

you can bump one of your earlier threads asking the same question by responding to it

  5. on our IMCA modified we used a Powerglide and just tapped into the direct clutch port (plug on side of case) to dump the fluid back into the pan. We used a "clutch" pedal because at the time we were not allowed to use direct drive. You could "slip" the clutch slightly but we were using the HD plates. It p***ed tech........LOL

There are different ways to set it up. Some used the Powerglide with the 2 speeds and a deeper low gear to start it moving. Some used a closed ratio that would shift at a set rpm on longer tracks. Some removed the low gear components and used it as a direct drive box. The main reason to use it in dirt track racing was to reduce the rotating weight so the drive train can speed up and slow down faster. A good transmission shop should know how.

We used a Ram Coupler with an automatic flex plate. You have to push the pedal to the floor to start out then release it to lock it. Some drivers couldn't manage it.
