Hello, I had such great luck here finding a door art artist. I was hoping y'all could help with finding someone to help with my other project. I have a 1952 Chevy Carryall (Suburban). I have been piddling with her for about 10 years now. I lit a fire under my rear about a month ago and I've been going gangbuster on her ever since. I pulled the body and I've completely gone through the ch***is. Now, it is on to the body. I previously repaired all of the rust damage and she is now solid metal again. My ask is for recommendations for a painter in the north Texas area. I live near the DFW airport and I'm willing to travel to find someone who would be willing to paint my burb body. I'm not looking for a show piece glossy paint job but rather I like the look of low sheen. If anyone could recommend a person or shop that could help me finish my project, I would be greatly appreciative!! Thanks!!
I asked my friend Shine in Bluff Dale he's a good 'ol boy about 78 miles from you, been around since dirt. knows his stuff and a perfectionist. Here is what he said "the flat jobs are a pia to do. you need a perfect booth because any trash or dirt can not be sanded and buffed out. i learned the hard way on flat jobs and would rather not get into another one" pm me if you want his number and maybe you and he can work something out
akbo47, Wow, it amazes me when I think "hey this will be easier" than gloss and my theory is completely off base. That is a great point about not being able to buff out a flaw. I really like the look of low sheen on the old Chevys.
Have an old buddy in Rendon - south of Forth worth.....although he loves to do an old muscle car....he's done a award winning Auburn boat tail and an air cooled Franklin.....he's not cheap but fair we think.....he posts mostly on Facebook PM if you want his Facebook linc....
New Car Concepts in Carrollton. 1420 Westway Circle,75006 These guys prep and paint the bodies and a panels for our Sprint Cars, and they are artists! They pretty much do it all, from insurance claims, ( you should see what did with my O/T Suburban!) to restorations. Good guys to work with. They are on FaceBook, look them up!
