Technical 12v conversion with pertronix

Thanks in advance for the help guys and gals, so I have nearly finished converting my 53 chevy over to 12v just have to ****on up the ignition. My question is, I have a 6v pertronix ignitor in it from when it was 6v. Can I leave it in as long as also install a ballast resistor between it and a 12v msd blaster2 coil?
