Hi guys I'm hoping someone can help with some advice I have a 48 ford coupe and have noticed if I park up on sloping ground axle oil seeps out of the brake drum. Is there an easy fix for this, its the first banjo axle I've had and can't find a definitive solution. Also I'm in the UK so parts and advice are a little more difficult to come by.
    Any advice very welcome

The simple fix is to replace the seal in the hub that leaking. Just remove that brake drum[you will need a drum puller] and you will find the seal on the inside of the drum. its an easy seal to get, if you have a problem there will be a number on the outer edge of the seal. the worst case if it still leaks you have to remove that axle housing and there is an axle seal inside the housing. but I would try the outer seal first, much easier .

Two more things. (1) That big snap ring is difficult to remove but if you use a thin flathead screwdriver (or 2) you can do it with patience. When you get it out, regrind the snap ring angle in the opposite direction so you can use snap ring pliers to remove it easily if needed again. (2) Not sure if you have a grease fitting behind the backing plate for greasing the wheel bearing, but if you do, DO NOT USE IT, as it the grease will drip onto your brake shoes. Greasing the rear wheel bearings by hand will last a long time. Also, those big rear wheel bearings are no longer made to the standard Henry Ford made them. The new repros are China made and JUNK. If you do a search on what you are doing on www.fordbarn.com there is tons of info. as it's all been done before.

All good info. Make sure you torque the **** out of the axle nut as well. 200-220 foot Lbs.
Some say that after that drive it around and re tourque.
