  2. Another midget racing movie from the 40's (1947) was the Abbott and Costello movie; "Buck Privates Come Home". Great old movie with some wild footage.I first saw this as a kid when I was about 5-6 years old. Left and indelible mark on me. A careful look at the cars in the workshop scene reveals a very nice track "T" on the far side of the workshop just before the fight scene starts.

I like Two Lane Blacktop..kind of like the good old days of drag racing for money on two lane roads.

Also, like Heart Like a Wheel...a good drag race story about Cha Cha Shirely.

I´m looking for a TV serie with customs in it. The serie is made in the 80´s and the handling in the serie was about a private detectiv and a young boy in the 50´s ( Josh Brolin ) I think, he drove a chopped 50 mercury.

Anybody remember "Running Wild"? Popular 'B' actors co-starred with Mamie Van Doren & Keenan Wynn, AND the Hirohata Merc. The star (undercover cop) drove a famous Barris Merc also, a chopped convertible. Good solid 'B' car theft mystery. (1958?)

Red line 7000, with howling 427 Ford Nascar engines and Junior Johnson at the wheel
of a 63 or 64? Ford full size sedan flinging that sucker around a short track like it was the
last lap at Daytona! Not to mention the line from the song " Wild Cat never had much time for the
chicks, he was busy tuning up his carburetors and getting his kicks!" I thought it great fun
when it was new and I was a kid and still do!

  13. One not mentioned.... 'Highway to Hell' (1991) with a '40 Ford coupe as the hero's ride. Fun bit of fluff, but they do abuse that poor '40....

Not so much a hotrod movie but the original series of dark skies....plenty of 50/60s cars used in a science fiction series, it was out around the same time as crime story starring Dennis Farina.....well in the UK it was on around the same time

How about 3 really good recent car movies, "Deuce of Spades" "Love the Beast" and
"Senna". All very GOOD shows ,

  17. Crime Story was a great, if under-appreciated, series that often featured some interesting older cars. Like Dennis Farina's character's black Chrysler convertible.

One of the best car B-movies from the 1960's is called "Pit Stop". Producer & Directer Jack Hill learned to make movies with almost no assists and "Pit Stop" is in black & white and the cast did all the behind-the-camera crew work. There is an incredible amount of auto racing footage of Ascot Park Gardena from 1967. This movie has better racing scenes than most of the big-budget auto racing films of the 1960's.

Bikini Beach, for the drag racing footage at Pomona.
Fireball 500, for the same reasons, but turning left.

That show was called "Private Eye" starring Michael Woods with Josh Brolin as his young "protege".
It was a good show with a decent story line and soundtrack.

I wasn't going to weigh in on this, but yesterday I watched Bad Boys II on Crackle and Will Smith and Martin Laurence are cruising around in the Buick Blackhawk show car made by GM that was a modern adaptation of a 1939 Buick. That is one good looking automobile. Another obscure car flick is "Johnny Dark" with Tony Curtis made in 1954. It's about a car race from Canada to Mexico and it shows all kinds of '50's era fibreglass kit car sports cars. I think Curtis drives a Woodill Wildfire. Saw it on Saturday matinees at the Capitol when I was a kid.
