OK experts what is with the square shape of the top of the blower or intake manifold? Don't think I ever saw one like this.

That is a wedge and the only function I can see is for it to make the injector more horizontal. There was at least one commercially available and I'm sure some were home brewed. I'm don't know if there was any performance increase or not.
The angle of the engine in a rail was described as "dump'" and with that varying with different builders and their own theory it could be anything from zero to as much as was permitted by oil pan and/or crank pulley clearance.

  7. Probably hand made. as far as I know a wedge spacer like that was not offered by a aftermarket supplier. Nice pic and example of a wedge injector spacer.

I've saved LOTS of pix from this thread and also the traditional engines thread. I've learned a lot about carbs, manifolds, and engines from them. I have felt like a novice due to the fact that for the most part I only know about stuff I or my friends have owned over the years and (like most of you) have never owned most of this stuff.

I really appreciate those who name the pix with descriptions of the contents. It has saved me a lot of time when saving the pix since I try to save with a name that is descriptive.

So the point here is that I recommend you use descriptive file names.

    Thanx in advance...

  14. Not nearly as fancy as most of the stuff posted but here's the intake manifolds on my olds race motor. Note I said manifolds, yes two separate manifolds.

  23. The systems posted are great, thanks guys. I also would like to hear about your tuning methods and results, good or bad. I just ordered a air-fuel ratio gauge and kit for my blown 406. I have the carb dialed in pretty well but know it could be even better. This is challenging on a pretty radical blown small block. It is still to rich at idle. A good clean idle has been most of the battle. Now with the AFR I will know exactly where things are at. I have been tuning the old school way for 40 years, its time to get some modern help, with todays gas and all. I am going to post my findings , readings and modifications to the tune on my induction system . We will see what the results are. Playing with blower carbs, FUN.:D

  24. I am going to test and tune with several different carbs. A 950 Quick Fuel, and a 750 Holley blower carb.

Cragar 4x2 with new Genuine Stromberg 97s
ran it for a while as they came out of the box, ran rich
swapping all jets down to .043 made a big improvement
runs and behaves nicely but I think there is still room for a little improvement
very slight lag mid throttle and rear carbs are running a just bit rich
will swap to #68 power valves next
and may try jetting down to .041 on the rear two..

    Edit:
Put #68 power valves in, cleaned the plugs and drove it around to get the temperature up. Adjusted mix and speed and cleaned plugs again.
Drove it around again and checked plugs again. Nice color and it ran great, much improved.
I have .041 jets coming but I think I hit on the right combination already.
