My 36 Ford has may parts from a donor 56-57 Ford used when it was built in the early 60's. Can anyone tell me how to remove the switch shown in these pics? I need to access the wires and would be much easier if removed. It has a large spring behind it and maybe a clip of some kind ? Please advise if anyone out there knows. It is not working and needs new wires running to it. Thank you ![IMG][IMG][IMG]

You push the switch out from the rear of the dash and then unthread the bezel from the front.

    First, remove the key.
Next, there is a tool to remove the bezel
Once removed, switch can be pushed to the rear & out

There is no special tool. Press in the switch body from the rear of the panel. Rotate the bezel 1/4 of a turn counter clockwise, then remove the switch from the rear of the panel.

The headlight switch is the one where you need the slotted tool to remove the bezel.

On my 62 you turn it to the acc side and put a paper clip in the little hole and then the key switch will rotate out.
Then you go from behind and push and turn. I can not tell if your key switch has a hole or not

I believe jimmy2car is correct, there is a special tool. That doesn't mean there is no other way. The tools are readily available.

    I also have a 56 & needed the tool. That's my experience.
Not trying to make an argument about it.

I bought and used the tool when I replaced my switch. On the headlight switch you press a little deal on the top to pull out the stem and use the same bezel tool to remove it too. Good luck.
