The '52 I can't give away is going to get scrapped by the end of the week (yes, the one I adapted the crossmember for a SBF in). Does the dash a bolt in or is is welded in? I wanted to keep it and some other parts for something else or trading fodder, but I don't have time to strip out everything that may burn if I use the blue wrench. I might be persuaded to grab some other parts if somebody truly needs them. Headlight rings are gone, so's the grill, taillights. lower body rust is there so no pristine fenders or (4) doors here, most of the trim is pitted.
Based on my experience with 54's, the dash should be a bolt in. My apologies for sending PM first - Rookie FNG ! 41 Dave
I do believe the dash in my '53 Customline was welded in, so I did all the paintwork inside the car(which we all know can be a BITCH). Again, this was long ago and I could be wrong and/or might have changed in 1954...
If it's welded in, a sawsall would make short work of it, makes a clean cut and no danger of burning anything up. That's how I cut all my dashes out, even if they're bolted in. I've never had mine out of the '53 so I couldn't tell you for sure.
I think it bolts in,,,,,like the 53/54,,,,,,,I do know it's a lotta work to take it out,,,,,getting to the bolts is easier with the windshield removed.HRP
The windshield has a perfectly straight crack down the center, and the side has popped out of the seal, should take about 15 seconds to get it out.
OK, it's definitely bolted in... bunch of little screws up near the WS, 2 - 1/2" bolts in the bottom coners, column drop, and use a bolt cutter on all the cables and it was out in 10 minutes. See the classifieds for more information.
Yeah, just like I said... BOLTED IN!!! It kinda makes more sense to me now(and it helps that my memory is returning )... we unbolted the dash in my friends '49 Ford which made for a much easier flake-job. Sorry, if I steered you in the wrong direction at all.
